Sweat Less Travel
I’m struggling with some of these one star reviews. Now you might look at my name and say: what do I know about Asian food? Well, I’m an outlier: the only Anglo in an otherwise Asian household. We’ve traveled extensively across the continent and eaten the real thing, and we eat the Americanized versions of Asian food all the time.
Is this the same quality as a Michelin starred hawker stand in Singapore? No. But for what it is – – take out Chinese food in a dining desert — it’s darn good. The food is tasty. The food is hot. The service is quick and deficient. And the price is right. The trade-off is that it’s not the most attractive joint on the inside. That’s OK, because 99% of their business is takeout anyway. They’re open late, they’re close by, and they’re just good honest, hard-working folks making a living.
To all of you one star reviewers: these folks have worked day and day out for decades with only short temporary breaks due to serious illness and a pandemic. They put out a pretty darn good product for what it is; if you haven’t tried it, you should. If you’ve tried it and hated it, you should try it again with these thoughts in mind. We’re sitting here having a late night meal wondering why we don’t go here at least once a week.

First time trying the food there and I got shrimp fried rice with shrimp egg rolls. Rolls were decent but the shrimp fried rice was lacking flavor. It seemed like whatever oil was used was the flavor of the dish. Pretty bland. Not terrible so I don’t want people thinking it was bad but just lacking that true Chinese robust flavor that you’d expect. It was nice and hot and they’re fast and very polite so I’ll definitely try it again. Maybe I caught them on an off day. I guess I got spoiled from China chef that used to be on Kennedy. I sure miss that place.

My boyfriend suggested this spot, which I had high hopes. I was very disappointed with this trip. We ordered four items the crab Rangoon, donuts, chicken lo mein, and magnolian beef. The order we got had very little chicken, it was mainly noodles. The magnolian beef was majority onions. I called they could do for me is next time I have to ask for double meat. I asked what portion/ ounces each scoop is, and all they said either a small or large. He could answer my question on that. I told them that we’ve been here before and had normal portion sizes with the meat. The excuse give was “we have a cook that isn’t here on Monday, so you got a different cook”. It’s crazy we spent over $45 on this meal for little to no protein. I would not recommend this place due to the willingness to fix the mistake.

It is my sincerest belief that when these people immigrated from China, they forgot to bring any spices with them… The customer service was excellent… The dining room itself is rundown and looks like a reject from the 1980s… And the food has so little flavor it reminded me of eating paste when I was in elementary school, but the paste was better… Avoid this place at all costs if you have any taste buds left in your mouth… We spent $50 of food and the only thing that was decent was the egg roll and the egg roll had no flavor either… I’m serious. This place sucks

Really good food here. With the limited selection of Chinese food in the area to can’t go wrong with this place. They have good egg rolls and I think they are getting better all the time.

Spent $45 on this hot mess.DO NOT EAT HERE FOOD IS PRETTY DISGUSTING. Everything is overcooked or reheated and has NO FLAVOR. And I order shrimp egg rolls and they gave me pork I DO NOT EAT PORK….PRAYING I DONT GET SICK

By far the best experience I’ve had yet! The Singapore mei fun is definitely a must order. Pork, shrimp, and chicken in this dish seasoned w/ curry powder! Loved it!

Had shrimp egg foo young lunch special for 9.55. Full of flavorful gravy and shrimp. Fried rice was on point. Came w my choice of spring roll or two cream cheese Rangoon; still hot when I got it home.
