This place used to be somewhat decent…edible and very close to home. So since it was so close I tolerated the dry chicken and 1 very small scoop of rice with the chicken teriyaki entree I always order. But the last time I went there, it was terrible. The chicken was so dry I almost choked. Even with drinking water immediately after I took a bite. The zucchini was rotten and there was several rotten spots on the outside skin. It also looked like they used a lot of soy sauce and burned the inside part to make it harder to see the rot. The mushrooms looked rotten too. I didn’t dare taste them. Broccoli old! When the green turns a different color, the broccoli is no longer good! And one thing that grossed me out the most was the put EGGS IN MY FRIED RICE! They have never EVER done this before and it was absolutely disgusting!!!!! One more thing, I got only 11 very tiny pieces of carrots! I will NEVER eat here again! Charlotte has THE WORST food out of every city/town I have lived in or visited. No good Japanese or Chinese. Fast food is horrible. The grocery stores have rotten or out of date food. I have tried many different places in this city and 85% of them end up to be TRASH. You will be disappointed if you eat at Mai.

I’ve eaten here a hundred times and never did a review! This place is ALWAYS good! The service is great and the food is always hot and delicious!! I get the habachi shrimp with veggies and noodles. I’ve had the steak too and it’s great as well. I highly recommend stopping here for lunch or dinner! Thank me later!

Very good shrimp fried rice and sushi. The waitresses can sometimes have an attitude though. They have rushed me a few times and have taken our plates before asking if we were done. They seem to care more about just getting their money than being hospitable.

We had take out of the she crab appetizer and two orders of hibachi steak and shrimp. The meal was delicious. The service was friendly and fast. The atmosphere was well worthy of dine-in but I was picking up. Very close to Carowinds. This location was tucked back a bit from the main roadway and that added to the quiet and comfortable atmosphere. Sushi bar, wet bar and an incredible grill! Highly recommend!

Very disappointing we order to teriyaki chicken and shrimp with no minced vegetables and this is what they give us. There is no sauce on the shrimp/chicken and because we didn’t get vegetables they said it was gonna be extra raise. This is not extra rice. It looks so dry. I had to run to Harris Teeter to get some teriyaki sauce to make it more flavorful but it was not worth the $25 I paid for it.
