This is a very good sushi restaurant. Authentic Japanese sushi prepared correctly. Good service little bit slow. Also is a Thai restaurant next-door. Good price quality food. Good interior.

Sit at the Sushi bar and ask Dave (owner and sushi chef) to make what he wants for you. It is culinary delight! Sashimi salad, custom rolls and nigiri. You will be happy.

My colleague and I meet for lunch a second time and we sit at the Sushi Bar. The sushi chef and owner Dave asks what he can make for us. Well tell him whatever you want to make. For lunch we experienced a Sashimi salad, My Mother Roll Make, Thai-na-mite Roll Maki, and a Fired Roll. Oh, so very very tasty. We were not disappointed. You will not be either.

You can order from Taste of Thai or Maguro from either location. So you can go through either door.

We chose Maguro. This place has a very nice atmosphere. The sushi menu is very extensive. The sushi was very fresh. We ordered the crunch and California rolls.

We also ordered the Pad Prik which was very good and big enough to split between two people.

The service is a little on the slower side, but it was good.

Chef David was awesome, some of the best sushi I’ve had in awhile for sure. Definitely going to be my local spot moving forward.

Maguro is absolutely fantastic and that is coming from a big time sushi snob! Stopped in for the first time yesterday because I was looking for a place nearby my office that was open at 3pm. As most restaurants close between 3-4.

I had never heard of Maguro, but I had visited Taste of Thai right next door several times and been impressed. Thought it may be the same owners, I read the other positive reviews so I figured I would give it a shot!

It did not disappoint! I loved it so much in fact, that I came back again today! Got the dinner portion Chirashi bowl both times. Fish was very fresh and flavorful, also super affordably priced. Ask the sushi chef (David, i believe was his name) for his special sauce. It’s a Sriracha, ponzu, wasabi blend! Will definitely be back and recommending to all my fellow sushi lovers!

First time we tried Maguro, in town for Dr appointment and we got carry out. 70 dollars worth figuring the rolls would be small. They weren’t, they were phenomenal! Giant round tray and another smaller rectangular tray. It was so good we couldn’t stop eating it! We will have it again next appointment. Recommended for anyone who likes sushi. Best you’ll ever have and the prices are good too!

Super cute new sushi bar. The food was absolutely phenomenal and a great price. We had the seaweed salad, miso soup, and egg rolls to start. All three perfect. But the sushi was the real show stopper. Absolutely delicious. Really fresh ingredients and fun combos. My favorite was the fiery roll, which was recommended by the chef, David. But the other three rolls we had were also some of the best maki I’ve had in a long time. The server was attentive but also let us hang out and chat without feeling rushed. THIS is West Ashley’s best sushi spot.

Decided to break tradition and try a new sushi place. We love eating at Maguro’s sister restaurant, Taste Of Thai, which is next door, so we had high hopes for Maguro itself. The sushi menu is quite large but still felt a little confining somehow. Maybe offering up some of the dishes from next door would be a good idea. And it could be that I am not well versed in all the different types of “sushi” on the menu. We ordered a combination they have that includes 4 rolls of your choosing and split it. This was plenty of food for the two of us! The quality of the ingredients was good and it was obvious that the chef took care in the preparation and presentation. We love the staff at Taste of Thai and hope Maguro succeeds, but I was not wow-ed by our meal. It may have been our selection of rolls, as we did deviate from the rolls we usually order. We will go back to try other offerings on the menu and would definitely order some to accompany a meal at Taste Of Thai if permitted.
