Casual outfit offering familiar diner fare in a 1950s tire service station, plus a patio & a bakery.

Stopped in on the way to DC on a Thursday morning. We were able to be seated right after we walked in which was wonderful. Service was fine, it is just difficult to hear clearly since seating is a little jammed (at least on the side closest to the bakery which is where we were.) I would give the lattes a 10/10. My breakfast sandwich bread was dry and there wasn’t much sauce to balance that out so I was disappointed in my selection . My husband enjoyed his bowl though. If I were to go back, I would order something more traditional like the french toast or waffles or just order from the bakery- the almond croissant was to die for!!

Magpie did not disappoint. My salad was flavorful and new and so was my Muelle’s Apple Cider. The only ones who were not too happy were my pumpkin waffle orderers. The dollop of creme tasted too squashy and less sweet. Otherwise, excellent and a real treat over all for everyone.

Good breakfast but not quite ideal. Cranberry ham biscuit sandwich was good but cranberry flavor overpowered all other flavors. Biscuit was cooked to perfection. The frittata was ok but tasted like it was not freshly made. Coffee and service were good We also purchased pastries and bread; pastries were good. Bread was over baked (see photo of bottom of bread) and burnt was the main flavor on the loaf we got. Overall a great concept but I felt the place missed on the details. Next time I’ll check the bread more carefully.

I had never been here before, but so glad to be introduced to this lovely little gem! A friend and I met at around 11:30, but we both got breakfast. I had the fritata. It came with an arugula salad and was very tasty! We also had the blackberry cream pie, which was amazing! The server was on top of things, and though busy, he was very friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is busy and loud, but we were still able to have a conversation. Overall, I loved the diner vibe

When you’re on a long motorcycle trip that takes you through Harrisonburg, you read reviews and choose where to eat based on those reviews. Magpie topped our list and we are so happy we stopped for lunch! The atmosphere is bright and welcoming and the food was delicious! I had the Magpie Granola with yogurt, fruit, honey & chi seeds, and I wish I could’ve finished my meal, but they just give you so much! Also wish they sold the granola, it was probably the best I’ve ever eaten. My ride mates had the roast beef sandwich, sausage & gravy, and the ham & cheese sandwich, and everyone was very pleased with their meals. Our server was friendly and attentive, a senior at JMU studying Health Sciences (I didn’t catch her name), which is also what my daughter studied there, so it was fun talking to her about that similarity. All in all a wonderful experience, and we’ll definitely stop in again if we’re in the area.

We had a fabulous experience at this awesome local spot. We waited about 15 minutes on a Saturday morning for brunch. It was worth the wait! The food was excellent, the service was awesome, and they were super kid-friendly- there were lots of babies in there, including ours! Can’t wait to come back.

I got the Turkish Eggs and it was truly one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever eaten in my life. The feta yogurt was super creamy and tangy and the eggs were cooked perfectly. I am not from the area but would try one of everything off the menu if I was local!

Brunch Bliss in Harrisonburg!
We were in Harrisonburg, VA for my son’s AAU basketball tournament and decided to refuel at Magpie’s for brunch… and wow, we might have found our new must-stop spot!
We grabbed a table outside, and the vibe was just right …sunny skies, fresh air, and the kind of relaxed energy that makes you want to stay all afternoon. The staff treated us like old friends, the menu read like a love letter to brunch, and every bite lived up to the hype.
From the first sip of coffee to the last forkful, everything was delicious and fresh. My family loved it so much we joked about signing the kids up for more tournaments in Harrisonburg just for another excuse to come back.
If you’re anywhere near Harrisonburg, skip the chain spots and head straight to Magpie’s. This place is a slam dunk!

Delicious food. We decided to go here because we had time to spare before going to some farms and we had heard it was good. We were able to get parked nearby and had to get on the waitlist, which was 60-75 minutes. We had the time so it wasn’t an issue. Once we were called we were seated outside but with great weather, it made for a great experience. The staff was friendly, and the food great. My wife and I started off with spicy passion fruit mockeritas. For my meal, I went with the lemon blueberry waffle, which was so good. My wife ordered the fig & pig tartine, and son the green poutine. Everything was delicious and started our day off with a smile. I would recommend going when they open to avoid the wait, but definitely go. It’s worth the wait, if needed.
