We were really disappointed with our experience, and wouldn’t recommend you eat here.
We’ve eaten in south indian restaurants before, and read the positive reviews of this place and were really looking forward to our meal while on holiday in the area.
However the waitress struggled to take our order initially. I’d asked what non-alcoholic beer they had and she they had Cobra. When she served it to me as draught, rather than bottled, I double checked whether it was non-alcoholic as I was driving. She didn’t know if it had alcohol in it, and had to check if what she had just pulled was alcoholic, which it was. She did replace it a mango lassi but it was a worrying start.
The waitresses struggled to take our food order.
Although we were the only table in the restaurant it then took over 45 minutes for our starters to arrive.
The food, although hot and perfectly edible, was disappointing.
Being the only table in there didn’t help the atmosphere, although it was a mid-week evening I would have expected it to be busier.
I can only think they have recently changed owners, to explain how our experience was so different to previous reviewers.
I’d highly recommend you try elsewhere before going here.

A hidden gem and a must-visit!
Greeted with smiles from the moment you walk in, the service from the team here is just fantastic. Friendly, knowledgable and seem to genuinely enjoy providing you with exceptional service.
I would highly recommend asking what dishes they recommend as they’re the experts of Keralan cuisine and you will NOT be disappointed, we’ve done this on both visits and have been honestly blown away by the quality of the food, totally unique to any other Indian restaurant we’ve been to (and we’ve both been to our fair share) and by far the best we’ve ever had! The chef specials are sensational!
Prices are absolutely reasonable and everything is freshly cooked, and I’m convinced we’ve stumbled across the best Indian restaurant in the country. It’s THAT good!
Been twice already and no question we’ll be back again very soon.

I recently dined at Magic Masala, and it was an incredible experience..This restaurant authentic flavors of Kerala to the UK.
Beyond the food and the service was really good. The staff very welcoming and happy to recommend dishes for an authentic experience. The ambiance was really cozy feeling making it a great place to enjoy a meal with family and friends.
If you’re craving genuine South Indian cuisine Magic Masala is the best place to go. I highly recommend it and will definitely be returning for more…

I honestly had one of the worst food experiences with Magic Masala. I placed an order for a Kerala biriyani at 7:27 PM, and it was finally delivered at 8:40 PM. That’s over an hour of waiting for a restaurant that’s just 0.6 miles away. Delivery delays happen, but for such a short distance, this was absolutely unacceptable.
Unfortunately, the food that finally arrived was even more disappointing than the wait. The biriyani portion was shockingly poor. Inside, there were only TWO tiny pieces of chicken, and both were mostly bone with hardly any meat. The bone was larger than the flesh, which made the whole dish feel cheap and insulting. For the price I paid, the quantity and quality were nowhere near reasonable.£13.50
The biriyani itself didn’t taste fresh, lacked flavor, and had nothing close to the authentic Kerala style they claim to serve. It felt like something thrown together carelessly just to complete the order. There was no satisfaction in the meal, only regret for having chosen this place.
When a restaurant fails on timeliness, quality, quantity, and taste all in the same order, it leaves no reason to give them another chance. Magic Masala completely ruined the experience of what should have been a simple, enjoyable biriyani dinner.
Definitely would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Save your money and your time – there are far better places that actually respect their customers.

One of the best Buffet I had ever tried from the UK.We strongly recommend this restaurant to every foodies of Kerala who lives in the UK. All buffet items are incredibly delicious. Extremely polite staff. Council free parking is available just on the opposite road. Easy to find the location – Just opposite of the Town Hall.

Very nice South Indian style food. We got lamb biryani which came wrapped in a huge banana leaf and dosa (rice pancakes with 2 tasty sauces), we couldn’t finish it all so took some home. Good food, good value, recommended.

We came as group of eight for an evening meal. I had suggested the place to my English colleagues. It was not a good experience and I wish I had not gone there.
On a cold January evening the heating had broken down and we were all freezing. No staff was there are at the bar and I had to find someone for a heater. I had to make repeated trips to the area behind the bar to ask for help. And the party was for MY birthday.
The food was good and Daljit was the only person working hard and was very courteous and the one star is for her. She was busy caring for another table and I had to go asking for more water for the table.
No one came to ask us about how the food was or if we needed any dessert or coffee. We felt neglected as though no one really cared.

I had the South Indian Seafood Platter & my guests a variety of Beef/Chicken Curries & a Biryani. All the food was so tasty & cooked perfectly to our taste(we had requested “not too much heat please”).Service was excellent & prices extremely reasonable. Can’t wait to to go back!
