All in all just disappointing experience. Went for margaritas that were absolutely horrible. They’re made with the cheap cheap sour mix. The menu said $27 granted we asked for Silver Tequila that was a $13 up charge. And again they’re made with that bottle that’s got the flip top spout if you know what I’m talking about. The Nachos Supreme were super weak. Also got the tacos which were okay. The service was extremely slow. Again just all in all not good. Actually left there and went to another Mexican place down the road just to wash out the bad taste of the margaritas. The other place we went to hand squeezed all their juices.

Despite the rave reviews we were still incredulous that we’d find great Mexican food off the road in the little town of Valatie. But the reviews didn’t lie. I had fantastic shrimp enchiladas (not specifically on the menu but an easy substitution) and my husband enjoyed his shrimp burrito. Service was fast and friendly and if we’re ever in the area again we will certainly return to Magdalena’s.

throughout my entire time living in chatham, this place has been my single favorite restaurant of all time. it means the world to me. i have brought most of my friends here at some point or another. i have reunited with family here. the food is always so, so consistently amazing. the service is wonderful. the atmosphere is more familiar to me than anything, from the paintings on the walls to the elaborately decorated windowsills to the paper tablecloths i love to draw all over. i would always get two horchatas and tacos. few small things bring me such great joy.
