I hosted my Galentine’s dinner at Maestro Pasadena and it was truly such a beautiful experience from start to finish. The team was incredibly accommodating and even allowed me to bring a few small table decorations to personalize the space, which meant so much to me.
Our table was set at the front of the restaurant right by the window, and the aesthetic was absolutely perfect. The ambiance felt warm, stylish, and elevated while still being comfortable enough for us to relax and celebrate.
What really made the night special was the hospitality. Our waiter was attentive without being intrusive, constantly checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. The owners also stopped by, which made the experience feel even more personal and welcoming.
If you are looking for a spot in Pasadena to host a birthday, girls night, or any special dinner, Maestro is such a great choice. We had the best time and I will absolutely be back.
My wife and I came here through our Amex Resy credit promotion, and we tried a good spread of dishes: scallops, carne en su jugo, queso fundido, calamari, and fried quesadillas. The calamari and the queso fundido were easily the standouts of the night: flavorful, well-seasoned, and plated beautifully.
The entrées, unfortunately, lacked depth. They needed more seasoning, especially salt, to bring the flavors forward. One of the fried quesadillas had no cheese inside, which might’ve melted out during frying but still felt like something was missing. The scallops were cooked well but needed more intensity overall.
Service:
Service was excellent. Our servers were attentive, quick to clear plates, and kept our water filled without needing to ask. Everyone was friendly, and the pacing of the meal was smooth.
Ambiance:
Warm, modern, and slightly upscale with dim lighting and comfortable seating. It’s a great setting for a date night or a relaxed dinner out.
For our main course, we enjoyed the arrachera, birria, and green chicken enchiladas — each dish bursting with flavor and clearly crafted with care. The arrachera was tender and smoky, while the birria had a deep, comforting richness. The enchiladas were bright and zesty, striking a great balance with the other plates. Every bite reflected quality ingredients and thoughtful preparation.
To finish, we shared the Tres leches carrot cake, which was nothing short of spectacular — moist, spiced just right, and soaked perfectly in that signature creamy blend. The entertainment throughout the evening added a vibrant energy, and the staff was impressively attentive, making us feel truly welcomed. Maestros is a place where great food, service, and ambiance come together seamlessly.
Drinks are creative and very good. The service was very friendly and attentive.
The place is very cute, but the acoustics are just awful, and the noise level was deafening. It honestly made it difficult to converse and enjoy the meal.
My wife ordered a diet coke, and requested a refill. We were charged $8 for a fountain diet coke ( 2x $4 ), which is ridiculous. Server never mentioned they charged for refills, but it’s just tacky to charge so much.
Ultimately, the food would get me to return, but take-out might be the way to go.
I really enjoyed the French toast. The chilaquilas were just as good. I can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the cocktail menu.
I think Mexican food tends to be saltier. Calamari was my favorite because I thought the sauce was a very Chinese chili ️ sauce
What we ordered:
1. shrimp and octopus ceviche: refreshing but probably needed more acidity, it lacked flavor
2. Grilled octopus
3. Arracherra (medium rare): I enjoyed the plate.
4. Mole confit
5. Tres Leches carrot cake -So Bomb!!!
The biggest complaint would be their online reservation system, make sure to ask for indoor seating when you do the reso (the new online system will automatically put the reservations to outdoor seating) And even though they had heaters on, it was still very cold!
However, the service was on point. A big shout out to our female server, who was attentive and sweet. She knew that we were there for a bday celebration, so she included 4 complimentary glasses of champagne for the group to enjoy with the dessert
Overall, we enjoyed our visit!
