I stopped in and grabbed the Cheesy Heifer Brisket sandwich on recommendation, with cheese sauce, grilled onions and sweet Sue’s sauce. It was absolutely A-ma-zing! I was a little hesitant at first about the cheese sauce, but it’s nothing like you would expect. The best sandwich that has ever graced my lips! No doubt!
They serve all the BBQ sides, Ribs, Stew, BBQ MAC, Turkey and sausage.
They also have lunch specials.
Of you are heading down Hwy 14 toward Tallassee, check them out. Open from 10:30 until sold out. And they do!
The only thing I would ever recommend is a grilled bun.
I had the baked beans for a side, they were very unique almost like chili with no meat. Smoked flavored throughout.
Service was great!
I ordered ½ pound of smoked chicken and ½ pound of smoked pork. first…the chicken. immediately I liked the presentation. BBQ in butcher paper is how it should be served every time, everywhere. it’s just something about peeling away some paper for BBQ.
the chicken…..I immediately tasted the wood smoke, which was minimal at best…but couldn’t overpower as the chicken breast was very bland. not necessarily juicy, but watery like a frozen turkey when cooked too fast. as mentioned, presentation and smoke flavor helped this po little yard bird. next day? leftovers were so tough we couldn’t eat it. my wife, thinking I was exaggerating, tried a piece and after a college try to finish chewing, she knew I spoke the truth as the trash can lid opened to receive another gnawed, flavorless wad of cold chicken.
the pork was significantly better. tender, smokey, chopped well and without huge chunks of bark to chip a tooth. my singular complaint (and had to really dig for this one) was the pork had a little too much salt. now that my man card is revoked…haha. next day, it was even more salty, but not too salty for my dad. at least he has lunch today.
the sauce stole the show. their take on Alabama white sauce was really good, minimal mayo finish with a strong apple cider front. peppery with slight heat. very tasty and low carb, too.
overall…. 2.5/5 stars.
100% it’s worth stopping for some incredible BBQ and to support a very nice family buisnss.
Ribs where incredible, home made brisket sausage, the turkey was moist and flavorful, and the brisket was juicy!
