Best experience possible! I’m having health issues and on the AIP diet. We were looking for a place that we could take my daughter out for her birthday but would also be compliant to my dietary restrictions. The head chef came out to our table and talked to me about my restrictions and then what he could do to accommodate. Our food came out and the steak was cooked to perfection and he personally came to check on me and make sure I survived haha. Waitress was great with our kids. Highly recommend and will be returning for date nights.

Met family for a weekend brunch, my first visit here. This is a wonderful restaurant! The quality of the food is to notch, with a wonderful variety of flavor experiences!
At our brunch we tried the French Toast Slammer, El Torero Breakfast, blackened salmon with eggs on grits, and Homestyle Breakfast. Ask were perfectly done! Yum was what everyone was saying.
I had the El Torero Breakfast which had three eggs over a bed of rice, seasoned black beans and chorizo sausage with a nicely spiced salsa verde. It had spice but it was more flavor than heat. I loved it!
The French Toast Slammer is their version of a Monty Christo sandwich…two thick slices of French toast surrounding generous amounts of ham, turkey bacon and cheese. It was probably the most asked for own on the menu according to our server. Enough for two modest appetites!
Service was friendly, attentive and professional.
Atmosphere was upscale, contemporary, a place that would be perfect to take a date or to celebrate a special day with your spouse.

My husband and I were looking for a new restaurant to try and came across Madrones on Resy Restaurants.com. So we figured we would give it a try. I have to say, the atmosphere was very vibrant and cozy with the music. We went at a great time, not to many people. The only complaint I had was we waited over 10 minutes before leaving our table to go eat at the bar area. Not one waiter or waitress came by. So we just left our table. Once we sat at the bar, we met Katy, she was so nice and humble. She had plenty of food recommendations. We started with an appetizer of Buffalo Wings. The wings were tasty with sweet kick. Loved them. Then I ordered the 9oz fillet mignon with a loaded bake potato caesar salad. The steak was grilled to perfection. It was amazingly delicious. My husband got the Half Baby Back Ribs, that truly fell off the bone with asparagus and sweet potato casserole. He loved it. To top and end our dinner we finished it off with a strawberry cheesecake. Very rich and filling. Enough to feed 2 people. Great portion size. Please go see Katy at the bar. She is awesome and provided excellent service.

I’ve dined at Madrones a handful of times over the years and felt it was finally appropriate to leave a review after our most recent visit. We joined them for dinner last night, having made a reservation a few days in advance through Resy, which was seamless and efficient.
This dinner was particularly meaningful, as it is a once-a-year family tradition during the Christmas season — a chance for everyone to reconnect. Our party included our 90-year-old grandmother as well as our infant, making attentiveness and pacing especially important.
Unfortunately, the service is the primary reason this review sits at 3 stars rather than five. Out of respect, I won’t mention the server by name, but the experience was disappointing. Our reservation was for 5:15 PM, and we were presented with the check by 6:35 PM. From the moment we were seated, the service felt rushed and transactional rather than hospitable.
When first approached, we ordered drinks and an appetizer but clearly communicated that we were not ready to place our dinner order and wanted time to settle in, catch up, and review the menu. Despite this, the server returned four separate times pressing us to order entrées. Eventually, we obliged simply to end the repeated interruptions. The discomfort was palpable across the table, and for a party of only five adults and a baby, it felt unnecessary and unprofessional.
That said, the beverages were excellent. I ordered a Cosmo, while the rest of the table enjoyed a mix of Long Island Iced Teas and wine. Their Malbec remains a favorite of ours and pairs beautifully with the steak offerings.
For an appetizer, we selected the goat cheese brûlée. While the dish itself was enjoyable, the accompanying naan bread was drizzled with balsamic, which proved to be an unexpected and polarizing pairing. The women at the table enjoyed it, while the men did not — something worth noting for diners sensitive to contrasting flavor profiles.
Entrées included two 9 oz filets with baked potatoes and asparagus, salmon with rice and vegetables, lettuce wraps, and shrimp and grits. The filets were excellent — rich in flavor, perfectly cooked, and finished with a satisfying crust. My father-in-law was especially enthusiastic about the shrimp and grits. The only notable disappointment was the salmon, which was improperly cooked and, regrettably, not able to be sent back.
As we were still eating, the server repeatedly attempted to clear plates, which felt intrusive and ill-timed. Additionally, another staff member began taking liquor inventory mid-meal, repeatedly squeezing between chairs and leaning over guests to access the cabinet beside our table. This was unusual, disruptive, and frankly bewildering — not something one expects during active dinner service.
To compound matters, our server asked three separate times if we wanted the check while two guests were still eating, ultimately leaving the Toast tablet on the table without discussion. At that point, the atmosphere had become uncomfortable, and we were ready to leave.
Despite the experience, we still tipped 20%, but we will be choosing a different restaurant for our family’s Christmas dinner going forward. Madrones continues to offer strong food and cocktails, but the service on this visit fell short of the standard we’ve previously enjoyed. At most we will only return for a happy hour at their bar.

Fantastic place and food. We arrive earlier than our appointment for my daughter’s birthday. They are nice and accommodate and find a table for us to start eailer.
Big shoutouts to the hostess and manager.
The foods are great. My 8-year-old son loved the 10oz prime rib and finished it. He highly recommends it for meat lover. Tables are clean and atmosphere is warm.

Madrones is a great spot for good food and drinks. I had the crab cake sandwich with fries. Tasted yummy, full of flavor. The drinks were just as good, and the server/waitress & bartender made the experience even better with great service. Prices match the portions, which is always a win. One downside is that some booths feel a bit cramped, but overall the atmosphere is lively and welcoming. Definitely worth a visit.

My husband and I looooove Madrones! It’s one our favorite restaurants in Frederick!! Great drinks, atmosphere, food and service. The waiters are very friendly and welcoming. Barry and Chloe have been our waiters about 2-3 times amongst some of the others and they’re all amazing. If Barry is your waiter ask him for a dad joke!

We went here for lunch after work today. I was going to order a burger with caramelized onions, but the server mentioned that the menu had changed for that burger. I decided to get it anyway to try it out. I asked for it well-done, and it was perfectly cooked, and very delicious!
One interesting thing I noticed is that most of the guests there were older adults 🙂
