The portion size was generous with several items; easily sufficient for one. They were kind enough to accommodate minor substitutions. I asked for the white rice to be replaced with an extra chapati which they allowed. The taro stir fry was a standout. I also enjoyed the pineapple Kesari which was not too sweet or oily/fatty. The rasam packed quite a punch and the other sides were mild as expected. The mini thali had the bisebilebhat which my friend really enjoyed. They offered 2 refills for any curries in the thali. The staff was friendly and the place was generally clean and not noisy. We also tried their mini filter coffee ($2.25) which we enjoyed post meal.
Overall, great value for money – authentic and mild Indian food! 4.5/5 rounded up.
The ambience, not so much. The minute I stepped in, it felt, sorry to say, a bit trashy. I could see literally every table eaten on but not cleaned up. Crumbs of food on the table and on the floor everywhere.
The place was dimly lit, the furniture worn down. And the signs are everywhere, that the restaurant took over an old shut down place with bad Feng Shui and did nothing much to make it presentable. There was no music up on the speakers and no light in the place as half the lights were turned off. Bathrooms looked like they are at Greyhound bus stop.
There were plenty of wait staff with one busy supervisor who clearly is new to managing a restaurant floor. Generally downbeat demeanor from the wait staff.
But, like I said, the food tastes amazing! This restaurant is probably good for ordering take out. But dining in is problematic.
I would have given less than one star if possible.
The service, the food, the ambiance everything is disappointing. The food is below average. The tall guy refused to take our order two times as he was too busy, after 20 mins he took the order and we got our appetiser after 40 minutes. We ordered mini idili dipped in sambar, ghee masala dosa, Mysore masala dosa and filter coffee.
The mini idili dipped in sambar was sour and sambar had no taste, no salt and the ghee or oil was too much in it. The chutneys were adding nothing to the dish.
The ghee masala dosa was cold, masala was tasteless. Same with Mysore masala dosa, the expected spicy chutney on the dosa was insufficient and it tastes like plain dosa. With ghee masala they give peanuts chutney and with Mysore masala they gave coconut chutney.
The girl who brought it she doesn’t even understand what was it!
For filter coffee, they ran out of milk so we waited for that more than 15 minutes. The girl gave us sugar in a bowl, how we supposed to put sugar in cup without spoon?
On our table we didn’t have the spoons and napkin stand, when we asked the spoons some guy handed us plastic spoons so need to asked them specifically steel spoons, so he gave us two wet spoons, the service is that poor! The plates were small to hold the food.
Overall experience was very poor. We shared this experience with manager and he was nothing but sorry.
We are never going back there! Totally waste of money, time!!!
