Madero Cantina is hands down one of my favorite spots in the Pittsburgh area! Having grown up in Chicago with a Mexican background, I know authentic Mexican food, and this place is as authentic as it gets.

The food is top quality, the drinks are fantastic, and you can even customize your margaritas with a bunch of different flavors. My personal favorite is the Coronita Margarita, which is just a delightful blend of beer and frozen margarita you have to try it to understand how amazing it is!

The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the staff is super friendly, and while the prices are a little higher than your average Mexican restaurant, you can absolutely taste the difference in quality. It’s perfect for a date night or a family dinner. Highly recommend it!

The queso, salsa, and guacamole trio were amazing. Each was delicious on their own and the chips are freshly made when you order them. I’m constantly in search of the best chicken fajitas and these did not disappoint. Lots of flavor, more chicken than peppers and onions, and they provide 4 tortillas.

The ambiance was great and the music was not too loud. The bar was as welcoming as the dining room and service was great. I will definitely visit here again.

I loved this place! It is a cute restaurant and the staff are so kind. I ordered the strawberry cucumber margarita that was extremely refreshing, the chicken tacos with the lime potatoes and calabacitas which were amazing, and my partner got the enchiladas with Mexican rice and peppers in cream. Everything was so good, especially the strawberries and cream dessert! They do seem understaffed right now so I wouldn’t go if you’re in a time crunch, but I highly recommend!

We always have a fantastic experience and last night was great too. Portions are always plenty and the restaurant is always clean. Every employee is in a good mood and friendly. Our server was attentive and sweet. I always recommend this place to everyone. Their sangria is delicious! Our food was great as usual. Prices are fair especially with the portion size.

This place is OUTSTANDING!!!! It was our 1st visit and were blown away!!!!! Exceptionally clean dining room! The most friendly and welcoming staff!!!! They were so attentive, wonderfully knowledgeable of their menu and made amazing recommendations! Start to finish, this was a beautiful experience! The raspberry chipotle margarita was divine! All of our dinners hot fresh and beyond tasty!!!! Oh my, THE STREET CORN!!!! And as if it couldn’t get any better… it did!!!! Desserts and Mexican coffee! If you are a coffee fanatic, do yourself a huge favor and try it!!!! The smell alone was brilliant and comforting! Tastes even better! The people that make this restaurant run clearly take pride in what they do! We APPRECIATE that very much!!!! Many little details make this a special place! Thank you all for treating us like family ♡

I think they were having a tough night when I visited. Our food was delicious, but service was poor. No refills or check-ins from our waiter, which stinks because another drink would’ve helped pass the time after we ate. It ultimately took about 25 minutes between asking for our check and receiving it. I paid in cash to get the “5% off cash purchases” discount advertised on the front door, but it wasn’t honored. I did not ask for the mistake to be fixed because I did not want to wait for another lengthy period.

I don’t really understand all of the amazing reviews for this place. My experience was…fine.

Went on a whim when I was nearby for lunch. They must be relatively new as it looks like they are still in the processing of decorating (stencils on the walls, but not painted yet) which makes it look rather stark inside.

Really the biggest turn off is that chips and salsa are not complimentary. A basket for chips and salsa only is $5. $10 if you want queso, $11 for guac or $13 for all three. The reason I was given for this by the waiter is that the chips are made in-house. Well, they were okay but honestly not even that warm/hot and to me, since I went by myself for lunch just simply wasn’t worth the price.

I got a chicken quesadilla for my entree. Much like the chips it was…fine. The chicken was good, juicy and relatively well seasoned. The portion size was adequate. It came with sour cream, a nice and fresh Pico de Gallo with chopped jalapeños in it, on a bed of slightly wilted chopped iceberg lettuce. The quesadilla cost $15. I would have been more okay with the price if it had come with a small guacamole salad, which I’ve come to greatly appreciate at Mexican restaurants, but it didn’t and the fresh Pico just really did not make up for the price.

Overall, a quick lunch for one person ended up costing $25 with tip for a mediocre experience. Unfortunately, I would not recommend and probably will not return.

Went for the first time and had a great experience. The Covid restrictions were a bit annoying (such as needing a qr code search for the menu on my personal device), but didn’t damper my time enough. Food was really good. Tons of flavor, good portions and it looked great too!
