I realize that it is a new place so this review is meant to help them improve.
I have lived in Houston for 50 years and traveled the world and been to almost every continent. The food and service in houston is some of the best because of the number of restaurants per capita and the international clientele.
The best comparison I can make for this place is McCormick and Schmick in houston and while this place has the atmosphere, it does not have the service. The food quality while good does not justify it’s price. The crab cakes scampi was two appetizer size crab cakes with 5 shrimp. The crab cakes were really good but really small. Focus on the crab cakes and not the shrimp and massive amount of zucchini. The filet mignon was good. The fried chicken was good as well. Not enough flavor or salt.
Served an old fashioned without a luxardo cherry. Made up for it when I went and asked for it.

A nice reboot from Mr Madden. The fried green tomatoes w sauted lettuce was very nice. We enjoyed the tomato bisque, loved the crab cakes, and split the Jalapeño Chicken salad (very good but a bit salty) I had a 1554 on draft and a Hendrix Elixir (tasty and sweet).
Desert was the Rasberry Truffle Tart and decaf (both were ok).
We think they are off to a good start and will be back.

Shout out to Madden’s Casual Gourmet at Phillips Event Center at the city golf course on Briarcreat. John was our server and he was excellent. The food was SO good and even the patio looking out over the golf course was wonderful. Don’t miss out on this local gem that is finally back.

Used to eat at the downtown location of Madden’s Casual Gourmet pretty regularly. I almost always ate the Cheese Sandwich with creamy basil soup. Back then, the plate was complimented with some fruit (a few white grapes & a few other berries). I ate that 90% of the time I chose to eat there, though there were other menu items I’d order, too. Today, I was expecting the same sandwich, same presentation, same soup, same fruit. Not so. Though the sandwich was crispy, which I like, it was also quite oily on the surfaces. The soup was okay, though darker than previously, perhaps less cream, but that was okay. On trips to Madden’s in downtown Bryan, my sandwich never fell apart. The ingredients within the 2 slices of bread were secured to the inside, but today, bits of bacon were falling out left & right. There was a good crunch when biting into the sandwich sections, but I had to retrieve the bacon bits that fell out to enjoy them. I didn’t think the Avocado was as good either. It was mushy, with dark spots in places. In the past, the avocado was applied smoothly as one would apply peanut butter to toast….where it doesn’t fall off. I didn’t want to give you a terrible rating, but somehow I was pretty certain whomever prepared my meal needs additional training to bring that sandwich up to the Madden sandwich I was used to.
On a better note, my girlfriend loved her Madden’s salad with the cooked pear segments & chicken. She thought it was excellent. Thanks.

“Casual” and “Gourmet” say it all. And if you have been missing the unusual and unexpected since Mad Taco closed, you’ll be glad to know that Peter Madden has kept a number of taco specialties on this menu. I was introduced to this restaurant by a friend who has lived in college station for over 40 years. She knew the venue as the country club, and was eager to try out this new restaurant. That afternoon I had the salmon tostada. I liked it so much that I came back the next day for dinner with my husband. We shared the fried green tomato appetizer, then I had the southern fried chicken dinner and he had a Cobb Salad. All was tasty. The atmosphere was relaxed, the view of the golf course was soothing, and the staff were attentive. On top of that, the price was reasonable. I will definitely be back.

There is a lot of confusion about the price range of the menu. The lunch menu is between $10 and $20 and the dinner menu is $30 – $50 per person. The entire menu changes between lunch and dinner not just the prices. Our dinner group all had the southern fried chicken with mashed potatoes, green beans, and hot honey corn ($26 on menu) which is a fancier version of chicken fried chicken. I’ve attached a picture of the dinner menu. The food was five stars. The service was five stars. The atmosphere was five stars. The only thing I would change is serve iced filtrated water instead of cold tap water and offer Coke Zero not just Diet Coke.

We had a great time at the new 1929 restaurant. The food was delicious, the drinks were wonderful, and the service outstanding!
We ordered a Mac and cheese and chilli, a burger, a pizza, and a steak and frites. Our Neighbor’s ordered a green chilli soup and another delightful dish I cannot recall and all the drinks from the bar were delightful. Valeria provided excellent service. We will be coming back again.

Maddens is back. So good, limited dinner menu but definitely delicious. We had the tenderloin and friend green tomatoes as apps. Tomato soup, snapper and friend chicken as entres and all were outstanding.

I loved Madden’s when it was downtown and I was so excited to see it re-open at PEC! My absolute favorite dessert of all time is the blackberry bread pudding and Peter and his staff did not disappoint!

Had a great time except for Michelle. She was rude to staff and in my option lacked emotional awareness. My grandson who goes to a&m recommend but I will not be coming back anymore!
