Tried the turkey Manhattan and it was amazing. Friend got a country fried streak (which I usually don’t care for) and just the look has me wanting to come back and try it
Got a list of things to try the next few times.
The brisket wasn’t much better. Almost no juices coming from it and no distinct smoke ring. It looked like it had been cooked a few days prior, left to cool and placed in refrigeration for some time, then brought back out, warmed up and cut into slices. It definitely didn’t have the look, feel, and taste like brisket that had been made fresh within the last day and right out of the smoker prior to being sliced and served.
They said that they had run out of their homemade sausage, so they were trying something else. Idk what their “something else” was supposed to be, but it tasted like cheap store bought sausage link, which was also lacking flavor and was like it had been sitting out too long.
I got an order of potato wedges as well. They were decent size, but there was almost no flavor to them either. They were barely warm like they’d been sitting under an underpowered heat lamp, in a low temp oven or something for too long as they were dried out too. They tasted like they’d been flash fried then left to sit as there wasn’t even hardly any moisture in the potato itself anymore.
Overall, not impressed. I like going to smaller bbq joints because that’s the kind of place I worked at when I was in high school and I have respect for the work that goes into running such a place. I just feel like this place could do so much better, and maybe part of the problem is lack of business flow being in a small town competing with many other restaurants in better locations in town. Regardless, if the quality isn’t maintained then the chances of patronage isn’t going to increase either. People will go out of their way for good “Q” if word gets out that a particular joint is worth the drive. Right now I’m just not seeing it here.
I purchased a whole slab but so disappointed. The ribs were way overy cooked and very dry. No amount of sauce saved them. Would not purchased again nor reccemend.
