Whether you are looking for a fantastic sandwich, a unique beer and a ball game to watch, or just a friendly face… Mac’s is where you want to be. Located in historic Old City, Philadelphia, Mac’s offers a welcoming tavern aesthetic and experience… with a little something extra. Mac’s Tavern was formed by a small to semi-medium group of partners, comprised mainly of old friends. Mixed with a few national, local and (perhaps) cult celebrities – most notably, Rob and Kaitlin McElhenney of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia fame – the dynamic is as unique as it gets. A huge selection of eclectic draught and bottled beer, coupled with a chef staff that is second-to-none, means that Mac’s Tavern customers are receiving the best options and the …

Decent place. Friendly bartender. Didn’t care too much for the soup, but the cheesesteak pierogies were delicious. The chicken cheesesteak was good. The beer was cold and delicious. Really liked the doughnut cider. Went down smooth, great taste. Prices were decent.

I popped into Mac’s Tavern, owned by the folks behind “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” for a couple of drinks and a side of fries and had a great time. While I didn’t sample their full menu, the bartender’s warmth and friendliness instantly made me feel welcome, almost like being part of the gang. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a casual drink and friendly chat. Whether you’re a fan of the show or just looking for a great bar, Mac’s Tavern definitely deserves a visit.

Awesome ambiance and atmosphere! As a huge fan of Always Sunny in Philadelphia, it was really cool to have a drink here. I did not have any food but drink price was reasonable and had to get a t-shirt. My best opportunity to live vicariously through the gang!

We came here end of November 2022, had a whale of a time. Have been meaning to leave a review for a while.

Both big fans of Always Sunny from the UK, and were doing an overnight stop in Philly down to Washington. It was absolutely pelting it down with rain, so we popped in here thinking we would be an hour, but ended up staying most of the afternoon.

The waitress was absolutely amazing, really brought the place to life. Gave some good recommendations and we had a few chats about Philly, Wrexham etc. We had quite a few drinks as the vibe was so good.

We thought we’d try the food and it was actually the best we had in the US for our 2 week visit. Really strange this was the case but great sized portions and just really tasty. Will come back if we are ever around there again! Looking back nearly a year on was one of my most memorable days of my 2 week trip to the US.

Just a short walk from Philly’s Independence Hall, it’s casual, friendly, and fun. Beer was cold, food was good, conversation interesting, and the whole place was inviting. What more could you ask for? We stopped by because my sons are huge “Sunny” fans and found a great neighborhood place that welcomed us as tourists, had nods to both “Sunny” and Wrexham, and served solid comfort food a step above the usual fried and soggy bar fare I’ve gotten old eating. Go expecting a neighborhood hangout, not a plastic chain place, and you’ll leave smiling. Even the Useless Chick in our group enjoyed it, and Mac’s Famous Mac and Cheese was definitely NOT Kraft.

Stopped in at Macs to check it out while in town for a visit. Nice bar, small place so I’m sure it gets packed quickly. We went late afternoon and it was filling up. Nice beer selection including a bunch from 2SP brewing on tap. Thats a local brewery in Aston PA. Didn’t eat so can’t comment on food but will plan that for next time. GO WREXHAM!!

As a fan of It’s always sunny in Philadphia I had to stop by! Place looks good, has a couple of touches to give the fans of the show something exciting. We didn’t try the food so canno review that. Dropped one star because even though it was a Tuesday evening, place was quite busy and there was only a waitress serving everyone. It was definetely not enough, I felt bad for her, and also, in the end service gets affected as it was a bit slow as she couldn’t go any faster, she was working non stop.

A Quick Trip to Mac’s Tavern – A Five-Star Stop!

As an avid fan of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to visit Mac’s Tavern during my short trip for a conference. Despite the time constraints that allowed for just a single beer, the experience was nothing short of exceptional.

The tavern’s ambiance immediately drew us in. We might have had time for only one round, but the beer selection was impressive and our choice did not disappoint. We also had a quick bite to eat and were very impressed with the food (best Mac n Cheese ever)!

Even with our brief visit, Christian, our bartender, made a lasting impression. He was the epitome of friendliness and gave us the warmest welcome. In a swift but memorable exchange, he even managed to snap a couple of great photos for us, capturing our fleeting moment in this iconic spot.

For those who find themselves in Philadelphia with time for a drink, make it at Mac’s Tavern. It’s a place where even the briefest stop can become a highlight, especially with staff like Christian who are the epitome of Philadelphia’s hospitality. Can’t wait to return for a longer visit next time!

Fun spot! First time in, loved the casual local vibe. Great service, a fine Guinness pour, and tasty food—especially liked the Philly poutine (their fries with short ribs, gravy, and cheese curds). Would absolutely recommend!

Underwhelming. I had high hopes for this Tavern. Being a fan of “Its Always Sunny” and “Wrexham” I thought this place would have more to offer.
The Mac’s Burger was just okay and it came with a meager side of fries that were excessively over-seasoned. Mac’s mac&cheese was also sub par. For what I was charged ($12) I expected amazing, but I could have made better at home.

It was very dark, only one TV was playing the Phillies game (tennis and something else on the others) and Chase Utley’s jersey was hidden by plants! disrespectful!
I really wanted to love this place but sadly I would pass and go somewhere else if I was back in the area.
