Both big fans of Always Sunny from the UK, and were doing an overnight stop in Philly down to Washington. It was absolutely pelting it down with rain, so we popped in here thinking we would be an hour, but ended up staying most of the afternoon.
The waitress was absolutely amazing, really brought the place to life. Gave some good recommendations and we had a few chats about Philly, Wrexham etc. We had quite a few drinks as the vibe was so good.
We thought we’d try the food and it was actually the best we had in the US for our 2 week visit. Really strange this was the case but great sized portions and just really tasty. Will come back if we are ever around there again! Looking back nearly a year on was one of my most memorable days of my 2 week trip to the US.
As an avid fan of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to visit Mac’s Tavern during my short trip for a conference. Despite the time constraints that allowed for just a single beer, the experience was nothing short of exceptional.
The tavern’s ambiance immediately drew us in. We might have had time for only one round, but the beer selection was impressive and our choice did not disappoint. We also had a quick bite to eat and were very impressed with the food (best Mac n Cheese ever)!
Even with our brief visit, Christian, our bartender, made a lasting impression. He was the epitome of friendliness and gave us the warmest welcome. In a swift but memorable exchange, he even managed to snap a couple of great photos for us, capturing our fleeting moment in this iconic spot.
For those who find themselves in Philadelphia with time for a drink, make it at Mac’s Tavern. It’s a place where even the briefest stop can become a highlight, especially with staff like Christian who are the epitome of Philadelphia’s hospitality. Can’t wait to return for a longer visit next time!
The Mac’s Burger was just okay and it came with a meager side of fries that were excessively over-seasoned. Mac’s mac&cheese was also sub par. For what I was charged ($12) I expected amazing, but I could have made better at home.
It was very dark, only one TV was playing the Phillies game (tennis and something else on the others) and Chase Utley’s jersey was hidden by plants! disrespectful!
I really wanted to love this place but sadly I would pass and go somewhere else if I was back in the area.
