This is likely my second review of Mac’s Soda Bar. I haven’t been here for a couple of years but I’ll tell you this place has really gone down hill.
We shared a Scallop and Clam dinner and each got a stuffed quahog. The quahogs were huge, but lacking any clams. Really it just tasted like stuffing mix with clam juice. A real letdown because this place used to have awesome quahogs. Honestly, the restaurant was empty except for one other couple. Our food was overcooked and tasteless. The coleslaw wasn’t fresh, and the tartar sauce looked like it had been sitting around for a long time. If you tried to put your fork into a fried scallop, the coating would all fall off. This is not at all what I remember Mac’s Soda Bar to be like. I doubt I’ll go back.

The food was delicious. We ordered pancakes. They were huge, so fluffy, and oh-so delicious! I got 2 eggs over-easy with homefries and white toast. All of it was cooked just the way I like it!
Then, we had the Belgian waffle with banana slices, vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream. That was yummy! The waffle was perfection! The pricing was more than fair! Service was friendly and personable!! Would recommend!

My wife and I have gone to Mac’s for many years. We went today, a Sunday, and it was quite busy. Noisy also.
We got coffee right away and placed our orders. Six other people came in AFTER us.
45 minutes later we were still waiting for our food. The six people who came in AFTER us were served their orders before us.
I was ready to walk out. My wife could see that I was angry. She motioned the waitress and a few minutes later we got our food.
The food is always good there but there is NO WAY. I will ever go there on a Sunday again.

Went to lunch after hearing a review on the radio. Must say I was not disappointed. The meatloaf was perfect size, mashed potatoes were excellent, but the summer squash was just so delicious. I could have ate just that and been happy. Definitely will be back to try another special. Delicious
