Live plants line big open windows to the dining patio which is very nice. Continuing inside you’ll find massive stone walls. It gives a cozy feel.
I had my first visit back in September 2025, I sat on the lovely patio and decided to try one of their Blue plate lunch specials -Wednesday Chicken Fried Chicken. A decent size chicken breast fried to a light golden brown, tender and served with the yummy white cheddar mashed potatoes – not as good as I remember and not as firm as I remember and tasty perfectly cooked greens beans. The service was friendly, prompt. The food was deliciously satisfying. I knew I’d be back again…
Dec 2025 I decided to time our arrival so that we could enjoy the blue plate special and enjoy a drink during happy hour. I wish I could say I was more impressed but I just wasn’t, on this visit. The service was great, but the food we ordered did not meet my expectations.
We ordered the Friday, blue plate special Tempura Fried Shrimp comes with fries and coleslaw. I also ordered a wedge salad. My favorite thing was the coleslaw, a good vinegar tang to it, I think it even had pickled purple onions(?) – which I’m not usually a fan of, idk but it was amazing! The shrimp were huge, but had entirely too much breading for me. The fries, meh. Some hush puppies would have been a nice optional side (not on the menu but would be a nice consideration). The wedge salad was simple, but lacked any of the oomph you expect in a wedge salad like strong blue cheese, bacon, a hearty dressing that compliments and pulls it all together- this salad lacked taste. I honestly expected more from a fine dining restaurant when it came to this meal.
I am going to return and try the Monday, Thursday Blue plate specials too. And I’d love to get a steak at some point as well!
5 stars for the chef!
The service was just as exceptional. Our server, Stefan, went above and beyond to make our evening special. He was attentive, friendly, and had great recommendations. You could tell he genuinely cared about the experience we were having.
Highly recommend this place, we’ll definitely be back!
1. We had a reservation at 6:30pm. We showed up (two of us) at 6:27pm. We were told to wait. A group of four walked in behind us about 5-10 minutes later. They got seated before us and got sat in a nice booth, while we were sat 10 minutes after our reservation time and next to a 15 top full of children running around. At one point one of the children spilled their entire water and it splashed all over my husband. So not only did a party who got there after us get sat before us, but they were also given a table away from the chaos.
2. The food…. 80 dollars for a cowboy ribeye that was dry, chewy, stringy and overall bad.
Would not recommend this place. The only bright spot was our waitress Lauren. She was great and worked very hard.
The highlight of our night, beyond the great food, was the outstanding service we received from our server, Dylan. He was incredibly attentive, friendly, and made us feel genuinely welcome. His thoughtful recommendations and great attitude added something special to the evening.
As for the food—wow. The steaks were absolutely phenomenal. Cooked to perfection, full of flavor, and easily some of the best we’ve ever had. You can really tell the kitchen takes pride in every dish they serve.
MacKenzie’s Chophouse made our daddy-daughter night truly unforgettable. We’ll definitely be back, and we’ll be asking for Dylan again!
