It’s been a decade since I’ve eaten here and one thing that always remained in my mind were the mashed potatoes.

Live plants line big open windows to the dining patio which is very nice. Continuing inside you’ll find massive stone walls. It gives a cozy feel.

I had my first visit back in September 2025, I sat on the lovely patio and decided to try one of their Blue plate lunch specials -Wednesday Chicken Fried Chicken. A decent size chicken breast fried to a light golden brown, tender and served with the yummy white cheddar mashed potatoes – not as good as I remember and not as firm as I remember and tasty perfectly cooked greens beans. The service was friendly, prompt. The food was deliciously satisfying. I knew I’d be back again…

Dec 2025 I decided to time our arrival so that we could enjoy the blue plate special and enjoy a drink during happy hour. I wish I could say I was more impressed but I just wasn’t, on this visit. The service was great, but the food we ordered did not meet my expectations.

We ordered the Friday, blue plate special Tempura Fried Shrimp comes with fries and coleslaw. I also ordered a wedge salad. My favorite thing was the coleslaw, a good vinegar tang to it, I think it even had pickled purple onions(?) – which I’m not usually a fan of, idk but it was amazing! The shrimp were huge, but had entirely too much breading for me. The fries, meh. Some hush puppies would have been a nice optional side (not on the menu but would be a nice consideration). The wedge salad was simple, but lacked any of the oomph you expect in a wedge salad like strong blue cheese, bacon, a hearty dressing that compliments and pulls it all together- this salad lacked taste. I honestly expected more from a fine dining restaurant when it came to this meal.

I am going to return and try the Monday, Thursday Blue plate specials too. And I’d love to get a steak at some point as well!

MacKenzie’s was from beginning to end a fantastic dinner stop. We made reservations and were immediately seated upon arrival. Our server Susan went above and beyond to explain the specials and the availability of certain items. Most important of all, the food was amazing, my wife and I both had prime rib and it was melt in your mouth good. 10/10 would come back or recommend! (Drink in the photo is a “drinkable applesauce”, think Poloma with a hint of apple. Cheers!

So far the best bone-in ribeye steak I have tried. Perfectly seasoned and grilled to a perfect temperature. Service was fair, Atmosphere was very nice with an upscale touch but not too pricey.
5 stars for the chef!

Excellent ambiance, great lunch venue with friends, and the best ever service from Evandro Bueno! I had the huge and delicious, perfectly prepared Bone In Ribeye. Worth every darn nickel, since pennies are not around anymore. Exceptional customer service from Evandro – courteous, friendly, and professional too! 5 Stars and 5 Thumbs Up for Evandro and for MacKenzie’s Chop House downtown. We will be back – soon!

What seemed like it would be a peaceful evening quickly turned into a nightmare. The nicest thing about the entirety of my experience was the sweet and friendly waitress. The bread was delicious, and the salad was wonderful- other than that, the food was sub-par. The biggest and most immediate issue was with my cowboy ribeye, which was freezing cold. My girlfriend ordered the NY steak, which was quite thick, and I can only assume they put both steaks on at the same time. They must’ve removed my steak off the grill much earlier than they took hers off, due to the difference in thickness of what we ordered. I imagine that my meal was cold because it sat on the plate while my girlfriend’s meat ‘finished’ cooking. I use the word ‘finished’ lightly, because while we ordered both steaks to be cooked medium-done, hers revealed itself to be very rare as we cut into it. Eating at a place like this, with these prices and this atmosphere, should be a good experience, and unfortunately, we both left unsatisfied and unsatiated.

This was hands down one of the best steaks I’ve ever had perfectly cooked, flavorful, and melt-in-your-mouth tender. Honestly, every single thing we ordered was amazing. From the appetizers to the sides and dessert, not one bite disappointed.

The service was just as exceptional. Our server, Stefan, went above and beyond to make our evening special. He was attentive, friendly, and had great recommendations. You could tell he genuinely cared about the experience we were having.

Highly recommend this place, we’ll definitely be back!

The food was delicious as to be expected. However, it’s not the best steak I’ve ever had. Hence why they get a four out of five. I had the fillet, my dad had the prime rib. The beef and brie is always super yummy and the creme brulee was melt in your mouth. Service was excellent. Consistent, delicious and tasty.

I usually don’t write reviews but this place was a disaster.

1. We had a reservation at 6:30pm. We showed up (two of us) at 6:27pm. We were told to wait. A group of four walked in behind us about 5-10 minutes later. They got seated before us and got sat in a nice booth, while we were sat 10 minutes after our reservation time and next to a 15 top full of children running around. At one point one of the children spilled their entire water and it splashed all over my husband. So not only did a party who got there after us get sat before us, but they were also given a table away from the chaos.

2. The food…. 80 dollars for a cowboy ribeye that was dry, chewy, stringy and overall bad.

Would not recommend this place. The only bright spot was our waitress Lauren. She was great and worked very hard.

I recently took my daughter to MacKenzie’s Chophouse for a special daddy-daughter date night, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was inviting and elegant—perfect for a memorable evening together.

The highlight of our night, beyond the great food, was the outstanding service we received from our server, Dylan. He was incredibly attentive, friendly, and made us feel genuinely welcome. His thoughtful recommendations and great attitude added something special to the evening.

As for the food—wow. The steaks were absolutely phenomenal. Cooked to perfection, full of flavor, and easily some of the best we’ve ever had. You can really tell the kitchen takes pride in every dish they serve.

MacKenzie’s Chophouse made our daddy-daughter night truly unforgettable. We’ll definitely be back, and we’ll be asking for Dylan again!
