This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in Phoenix. We always make a point of visiting and getting the Baja Burro, which is creamy and just enough heat to set off all the taste buds.
The staff are always so friendly and accommodating. There’s a large menu with many different types of foods, and the prices are reasonable especially given the large portion size you get.
There are numerous locations in the Phoenix valley, so it’s always easy to find one where you’re located.
I would definitely recommend a visit if you like good Mexican food.

Happy hour drinks and salsa were great. The kids’ meal the kid enjoyed. I have been thinking all week about the food. After several discussions with the folks I went with. I ordered a Yummy Sparky Margarita which is a mango margarita made with ghost spicy blanco tequila! They are soo good. Apparently this is the only location that offers it. And it pairs nicely with an AZ classic, a cheese crisp with green chilis! Come check it out before, after, or during the ASU games! We’ve watched two asu games here! And started here before one of the games. It’s awesome! Go Sun Devils!

TL;DR: horribly slow service, cold food, waiter insinuated we’re fat. Avoid this location!
Macayo’s is a great local chain, but avoid this location at all costs. Their service is consistently slow, not to mention rude. We waited 10 minutes just to be greeted by a host, and there were maybe 3 parties in the whole restaurant. This was on a Friday night around 8pm, so not close to closing time or anything. The employees were just talking with each other while we waited to be acknowledged at all. Then, they tried to seat us at a dirty table. After waiting for 5 minutes for our server to greet us and ask us for drink orders, we left.
We were here on a previous occasion, and our food and service were awful. When ordering, we ordered 3 apps and an entrée each (3 people), and our waiter said, “Are you sure you want that much? That’s a LOT of food.” This was not an explanation of the size of their food, it was judgement. Then, the food was cold because the employees waited for a long time to bring it out. We saw our food ready in the window for several minutes while our waiter made jokes with his coworkers. Avoid this location, there’s much better ones just a few miles away!

The new location is great. Find it in the parking lot with Trader Joe’s on Rural north of University. Food was a great deal for us on the senior menu and delicious too. Worth the drive. Thanks to all the ladies that served us. See you again soon, Kathy E

I came here for a last meal with my friends, before leaving on a flight. I was very happy to find something to eat here; I got the Veggie Tacos with corn tortillas, no jack cheese, and with black beans. Usually the refried beans on the side come with cheese on them, but I just asked for them without. My food came out just right, and my meal was simple and delicious. I had no issue eating all of it, haha. Our server was also very friendly and accommodating. I’m happy this was the last place I visited before leaving; everyone had a good experience over good food, and that’s all I could really want.

This is a great restaurant and the location is perfect. We had a new waitress today I believe her name is Kyrene. I hope I got that right she did a great job help me with my order and got the cook to cook an amazing chimichanga dinner meal for me. A shout out to our favor waitress Carla. Been going to Micheal’s for over 7 years and never had a bad experience the food the management always talks with me it’s a pleasure eating there and talking with the staff keep up the great work
