The food was the real star. Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. You can tell the chefs put genuine care into every detail—from the freshness of the ingredients to the thoughtful combinations on the plate. My personal favorite was the entrée, which was cooked to perfection and seasoned flawlessly.
Service was prompt, the portions were generous, and the prices felt more than fair for the quality. It’s rare to find a place that nails ambiance, service, and food all at once, but this restaurant absolutely does.
I’m already looking forward to my next visit. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. I would recommend asking for Hailey!
As a long-time fan, I opted for the Red Chicken Taquitos. Wrapped in their signature red chile corn tortillas, they were perfectly crispy on the outside and consistently flavorful. I also appreciated the house salsa, it has a wonderful kick without being overwhelming. This remains a reliable favorite for great food and even better service.
The dining room area and bar have changed a few times over the years. There is also a patio area for dining outside by the lake.
Not all areas of the restaurant are wheelchair accessible. The bar is on the second level and the only way up there is using a flight of stairs.
The ownership has also changed over the last few years.
If you have been dining at Macayo’s for over 5 years, then you will notice a change in some of the menu items.
They have locations all around the Phoenix area.
2025-This review is about my current experience, trying not to compare it to the past. It is a sit-down, full-service restaurant.
They still bring out a bowl of chips and salsa for your table to share while you wait for your order.
They serve what I would call, Arizona-Mexican food.
My favorites are fajitas and chicken taquitos.
They are known for their chimichangas, which are deep-fried burritos covered in a relleno sauce and usually served with sour cream.
They also sell a special mug for margaritas that you can keep and use to get discounted margarita refills throughout the year.
I feel that some menu choices are better than others as far as price is concerned. It will probably cost between $20-$40 per adult meal with a drink. They do have a kids’ menu and they run different weekly/seasonal specials. They also have to-go orders and lunch specials.
They recently launched an app that you can download to earn points and get free food items.
