I went back to a place today that I hadn’t been to for a while and discovered that I had waited way too long. I was just passing by and noticed that the parking lot was full and that the roads in every direction were lined with parked cars. So I changed my mind about my lunch plans and pulled into Mac’s Country Store. I was there a little before noon so I had my food quickly. As I enjoyed my two hot dog plate with slaw and onion rings I realized why the line was to the door by now. Yet Mac served everyone efficiently and pleasantly. As I ate and watched the crowd I had an epiphany. This will not be a passing by place for me, it will be a destination spot. Truly, these are the best hot dogs, bird dogs, and hamburgers in the area. Way to go Mac Smith , you rock. To quote Mickey Mouse, we’ll see you real soon!

Decided to give it a try. We had heard good things. We had 2 cheeseburgers and the hamburger steak and gravy. Hamburgers were extremely dry. I mean bad dry. Hamburger steak was good, but I think it was only because of the gravy. It was quaint old gas station Im guessing. A neat little place. Sorry to say I was disappointed. Was really craving one of those dripping off your elbows burgers and it was anything but.

Another great Hamburger. My wife and I have been trying to find these hole in the wall hamburger joints. This place is at the top of the list. Great Burgers. They load you up on the fries so mix your sides. Half fries half Mac n cheese or something like that. Small unassuming place with a steady flow of customers. Cooked fresh, served got off the grill. Not to far off I385 at exit 21. So if your in the area looking for something good to eat, check them out
