We went to Lusco’s for a friend’s birthday. The server made her feel like Quuen for a day. We loved the private dining rooms and the food was excellent also. Definitely on our list to visit again!

Unique experience. Time travel to the 1920’s. Private dining booths throughout the establishment. Food was Devine. Very simple preparation that accentuated each and every flavor. Hidden gem for sure.

I give the rating for the Dateline’s documentary on Booker Wright. Very strong history in this area. I would like to know what street the old “Booker’s Place” restaurant/bar is located? This should receive some sort of recognition-marker if not Historic.

Today I learned the story of Booker Wright, a waiter at Lusco’s in the mid-1960’s. Lookup “Booker’s Place: A Mississippi Story” on YouTube.

Last night was the First and last time to eat a meal from Lusco’s! I ordered 2 Ribeye Steak dinners for my husband and I. The Steaks were mainly gristle and so tough neither one of us could eat it. I’ve eaten a lot of steak in my lifetime But this was the worst I’ve ever tried to eat! We spent $75.00 for a baked potato and fries.. Pitiful!!

You have to see the Anthony Bordain episode on this place. It is AMAZINGLY COOL – neat private little dining rooms but no pretense, decor includes taxidermy and the whole experience is a step back into time and it is FASCINATING. Stop by on any gypsy road trip, I totally endorse it!

The steak, the fish, and the shrimp — and the fries and onion rings — are to die for, and worth flying for. As the director, after a final wrap I took a film crew there back in the ’70s for a celebration party. We had been shooting down in Jackson and flew in and out of Greenville in our chartered bizjet, and we were not surprised to discover other bizjets regularly flew in from NYC, CHI, LAX, MIA, DFW, and numerous other locations . . . just for dinner. Back then it was a strange and very off-beat sort of place — shades of “Twilight Zone.” But I have never forgotten one of the best meals of my life, from ’bout 40 years ago.
