Cute spot tucked away in Lincoln Square. This was our first time dining here. For starters it was weird being asked if we wanted chips and salsa instead of it just coming out. Salsa needed more spice and was a bit the garlicky side.

We ordered their Lupe’s platter. (It was a good portion but everything was pretty bland. The cheese in the quesadilla also had a sour taste) Guiso de Res (Tasted okay but wasn’t a “guiso” more like a ranchera sauce) Tortilla Soup (Pretty bland in taste. Tortillas also arrived soggy. I like it when the strips are added at the end and there is still a nice crunch. Also, it didn’t include any veggies which was a bummer. Just chicken and a few tortilla strips)

Service was the worst. We did get seated fast but she hardly checked on us/came around for drink refills. Took a while for her to come take our drink/food order too. We even had to wait a long time for her to pick up our payment.

Overall, will not be returning. Food was just bland and service was horrible.

Went here for a company lunch and must say that the food was absolutely delicious and the margaritas were a really nice size. Everyone at the table enjoyed their food from fish to carbs asada. I got the Burrito Al Carbon which was their chile con quest and I inhaled it it was so good!
The servers were super patient , very attentive , and all around really personable! I would definitely recommend and I will be back!

Food was good, chips where the best part. My husband loved the black beans, just took a while to get our check after we finished. Then the guy grabbed my debit card out of my hand when he noticed I was waiting. Our waitress was nice though.

Lupe’s Comida con Sabor had a bit of a mixed first impression, starting with the fact that it wasn’t very busy when we arrived and there was no one at the counter to greet or seat us, which left us standing around briefly unsure of what to do.

Once we were finally seated, things picked up quickly at first, chips and salsa arrived almost immediately from one waiter, and another followed right behind with menus, which initially felt efficient and welcoming. Unfortunately, after that moment, our primary waiter disappeared for quite a while. We were ready to order and had to wait longer than expected, scanning the room to track him down.

When we were finally able to place our order, the wait for food wasn’t bad, and once it arrived, it was absolutely worth it. The food tasted amazing and the portion sizes were very generous, easily one of the highlights of the visit. The salsa itself was a bit bland and didn’t really match the bold flavors of the rest of the meal, but it wasn’t a dealbreaker.

Toward the end, service issues came back into play, it took a long time to get refills and even longer to get the check, to the point where another waiter noticed and stepped in to help us wrap things up. We ended up tipping him instead, since he was the one who actually made sure we were taken care of. Despite the inconsistent service, the quality and quantity of the food left a strong positive impression, and overall it was still a great meal.

We are only in town for the night. After a few searches of Mexican restaurants, we decided to try this place. We enjoyed the black beans in addition to the salsa. We did ask for a spicier salsa, and they brought us a habanero salsa. The server came by and asked if we wanted to sample the Cerviche. It was very good. Overall, we enjoyed our meals and our family time. Our server was very attentive.

I came here and had a good experience. I’ve been here more than once and on both occasions the servers weren’t very attentive. Other than that the food is pretty good. I will be returning.

I’ve been to Lupe’s Tex-Mex Grill Comida con Sabor multiple times because it’s convenient, but after this experience I won’t be coming back.
During our visit, the manager, Jennifer, came over to our table to tell us that a group of older women were complaining about our one-year-old being “too loud.” Our child wasn’t doing anything out of the ordinary — just normal excitement and occasional squeals that you expect from a toddler. Nothing excessive, nothing disruptive. The fact that management felt it was appropriate to approach us and essentially suggest our baby’s behavior was unacceptable was honestly shocking and completely unnecessary.
As parents, you already do your best to manage young children in public, and being singled out like that was embarrassing and frustrating. A family-friendly restaurant should understand that small children make small-child noises.
On top of that, the food here has always been mediocre at best. We’ve only continued coming because of the location convenience, not because of quality or service. After this experience with management, the convenience isn’t worth it anymore.
If you have young children, I would not recommend coming here — especially if you don’t want to be told your toddler is “too loud” for simply being a toddler.

The food and margaritas are great but the prices have out grown the taste and authenticity of the meals. Nearly $17 for six beef fajita nachos composed of a chip, cheese, and a piece of protein hardly makes it worth it.
Its a real shame they charge so much and pay the staff so little they have to “accidentally” add items to your bill hoping you don’t catch the mistake. The bill was corrected but still…. staff should not make this mistake when there are only five tables in the whole place. Its a real shame the quality isn’t keeping up with the prices and city know damn well and good inflation has nothing to do with nachos….

If you made reservations via Google, call the restaurant to confirm. I called a day before the date of the res to confirm & they did not have it in their log, something about system sync issues where their computers don’t link up with reservations made via Google. We came in @ 930pm (1hr before closing) on Friday right after a graduation ceremony @ Globe Life. Our party of 9 got seated right away, they were not very busy. Our server was very kind & patient with us while we gave our grad his gifts & took pictures. Drinks, chips & salsa and bean dips came out shortly after we placed our orders. Salsa has a nice kick to it & the bean dip is not overly salty. I ordered the carne asada plate, the beef was marinated well & packed a lot of flavor, rice & beans were pretty standard as far as Tex-mex places go. The food wasn’t hot-hot when it arrived, more like lukewarm or the kind of warm that you get from microwaving the dish for 30seconds. But it was right before closing time so they might have already turn off the grill/stove? Other members of my party ordered brisket tacos & enchiladas only to be told they ran out of brisket for the day. They opted for fajitas instead. Same as the carne asada, the fajitas had really good flavor but it was not fresh-from-the grill hot.

I used to come here years ago, and always considered it one of my favorite spots. I visited recently, and wasn’t thrilled about it currently. The food is nothing special, your average uninspired TexMex fare. The service was prompt, but unlively. Our waitress wasn’t rude or anything like that, but seemed very blasé about the whole encounter.

Overall, it was fine but I’ll likely search elsewhere when wanting sitdown TexMex goimg forward.
