What do you get when you add boba tea, a Japanese restaurant, & cat adoption? Welcome to Luna Cat Cafe, Syracuse’s first authentic Japanese cat lounge! We have a full range of food and drinks to enjoy in our cafe area, & an entire separate lounge for our cats! We work very closely with the Central New York Cat Coalition (CNYCC). We provide a great environment where you can adopt a cat that is already used to being homed with others, & is accustomed to love & attention. Interact with your future fur baby & create a bond before you take them home! You want ramen but your partner wants pizza? We have takoyaki, bbq meatballs, egg salad, okonomiyaki pizza, chili, & onigiri. Desserts from apple pie to mochi. Your only limit is your imagination!

I have no complaints with the food. But I feel sad for the cats. At least for the day I went. There was only one staff and she was so busy to take orders and served people and have no time to take care of cats. The cat room was messy and smelly, each cage has poop and food spread out. One cat had to be locked (for medical reason) in a tiny cage and had no place to lay down or stand properly because there’s poop everywhere. Poor staff have no time to clean the place up. I love the idea of cat cafe, if only done humanely and properly. I hope they can have more staffs and take care of cats better.
Edit: There’s a little room in the public cat room, like a closet room, where the door was not close and I did not need to go in to see there were supplies and few cages in there. I simply saw it from outside. And I did had the old pictures in there. I only speaking from my experience and what I saw.

Highly recommended, I was a little skeptical when I read the reviews and was worried about cats weren’t treated well, but decided to give it a try as I had to wait 5 h for a bus. Cat room is huge, a lot cat tree and toys. Cats can choose coming out or not. I had a peek when one of the staff opens the door and saw same model of litter robot I’m using, which is good for multi cats. Drinks are decent and cheap, I had mocha choco and coffee as they have a unlimited cat room hour and bottomless drink option;). And cats and kittens! Most energetic ones I’ve seen in a cat coffee. I did the same trick as I did for my cat– tied a toy at the end of the cat sticks, and i think they really like it. (Please don’t blame me if it’s hard to untangle… ) Definitely will visit again if I ever drop by Syracuse.

Food was SO good! I can honestly say I don’t remember the last time I’ve had such good Japanese food. The cats were so sweet, and the food was delicious. We’re already planning another trip out to eat here again!!

This spot is so cozy and cute! The ‘cat’ room is separate from the dining room. We didn’t visit with the cats this time but would in the future. I think it’s great that you can adopt them. The food is ok too- not amazing but good enough. Just go for yourself to see how niche and unique it is to have in Syracuse!

Charming and cute. The pumpkin spice bubble tea is delicious and a plus having it in the middle of summer. The beef rice bowl was especially yummy. My kid loved the strawberry sando. Can’t wait to come back and try the ramen!

What I don’t love? It needs a good deep cleaning. Chipping paint on the windowsills, cat hair on the baseboards. The restroom was filthy.
I don’t like to leave a negative review for Lunas however the cleanliness was a big issue for me. Other than that it’s a great spot for Japanese cuisine.

I forgot to take photos of my hot chocolate, it was that good. I got a smores hot cocoa, my husband got a brown sugar Boba and enjoyed it. Cat area is spacious, staff were friendly. Lots of old school arcade games in the arcade area. Did not get food, so did not rate food. If I lived nearby, I’d be here all the time.

The food was good, especially the Miso Soup. After eating, I paid for 1/2 hour to spend in the cat-room… which was very disappointing. Some of the cats didn’t appear to be in the best of health. Some had runny eyes and/or a waxy substance inside their ears. Also, the cat room reeked of urine to the point of forcing me to leave after only about 10 minutes. I suggest they invest in getting some Whisker Litter Robots. I have 4 cats, and you won’t ever smell cat urine in my home. This establishment is doing a wonderful thing by offering these cats for adoption, and I praise them for that.
