Riley our server could not have been better! The recommendations and what we ended up ordering were spectacular. You cannot go wrong, a must visit!
The staff was polite and seated us right on time. Waiting at our table was a yellow rose bud in a tiny vase and a note signed by staff members congratulating us on our anniversary.
We ordered glasses of wine and a lemon pizza to start. I had heard good things about the lemon pizza, but still the words “lemon” and “pizza” didn’t go together any better than the words “carrot” and “cake” (which I refused to try for years because of the contradiction), so I was tentative. It proved to be outstanding. The crust was cook perfectly and the white cheese with a bit of lemon was delicious.
My wife ordered gnocchi. We had gnocchi twice at other great restaurants in Asheville recently, and my wife said this was the best by far. The texture set it apart from the others.
I had the bone-in pork chop. It was seasoned well and grilled to give it a smoky flavor that was just right. After splitting the lemon pizza, I couldn’t eat it all, so I brought the rest home (it was equally delicious the next day). I would definitely order it again.
Our only gripe was the noise level for the first 10 to 15 minutes. A table of 8 next to us was incredibly loud to the point we were about to ask to be re-seated until we saw they were leaving. Afterwards, the atmosphere was great … including when another table of 8 was seated and talked without yelling.
Porter took excellent care of us and couldn’t have been better.
Definitely one of the best meals we’ve had in and around Asheville.
Would return when in Asheville again and highly recommend.
First, our server Jesse was simply perfect. He was friendly, fun, knowledgeable and attentive throughout the entire almost 3 hours that we were there. We didn’t have to wait for a thing. And he was quick with spot on perfect recommendations. He made great service seem effortless. What a gem they have in him! Definitely ask to sit in his area if you dine there. You won’t regret it.
Next, the food. Oh, the food. From start to finish, the three of us were blown away at the quality of ingredients, the means of preparation and the presentation. Even the bread service was awesome. We were all so pleased with what we ordered and portion sizes were good. I had the lion’s mane mushroom as an entree and I can honestly say it was the best mushroom dish I’ve had in a very long time. The way it was prepared changed the texture to something next level. It was wonderful to hear that Luminosa supports so many local businesses by sourcing within a 50 mile radius. Down to even the beautiful plates and serve ware! The drinks were fabulous as well. And then dessert… maybe the best olive oil cake and tiramisu we’ve ever had.
Parking was a breeze as valet is free through the Flat Iron hotel when you dine at Luminosa.
We can’t say enough about our experience at Luminosa. What a wonderful reminder of how great it can be to dine out in Asheville. All of us can’t wait to go back and it will be my first suggestion to anyone visiting and wanting to know where to dine.
