The food was excellent. The kitchen staff really nailed the flavor profiles! And our server, Fernando, gave us the best recommendations. I highly recommend this place for the wonderful food and service.

We ordered the Luna Benedict, and both plates arrived piping hot and beautifully prepared… every bite was delicious. Our server checked in on us thoughtfully throughout the meal, striking that perfect balance of attentive without intrusive. And whatever you do, save room for dessert: the olive oil cake is an absolute must order!

Service was prompt and friendly. The wine pour was not scant, albeit the cocktail maybe could have been stronger. The brisket sandwich was actually…. Incredible? I wasn’t even really interested in it much but my husband wanted to share it so we did. It was amazing. The fries need more salting while they’re hot though (: small complaint but we will go back for sure!

We enjoyed a delicious bowl of polenta on a cold rainy day. For appetizers I had one of their selection of Fancy Toasts. It was the best appetizer I’ve tasted this year and possibly in the entire last year. The staff were impressive and four of them, at different times, checked in with us to see how we were enjoying our lunch. The hostess actually checked in twice. Highly recommended.

Tuesday Date Night with my wife: side-dish sage, green goddess whisperer, lamb convert (for now)

My wife — the planner, the palate, the woman with impeccable taste in both salad dressing and husbands — made us reservations for a quiet Tuesday evening, and let me tell you, this place had me at “harissa marinara.”

Don’t let the shopping center zip code fool you. We rolled in expecting casual. We got modern warmth, glowing bar lights, and bottles lined up like they’re auditioning for a Netflix cocktail drama. The vibe was laid-back but elevated — like your cool cousin who wears linen unironically.

We started with wine because we’re grown-ups who pretend to understand tannins. My wife: a crisp ‘22 Gundlach Bundschu Sauvignon Blanc — bright, citrusy, and so good she ordered a second. Me: a smooth, fruit-forward ‘23 Land of Saints Pinot Noir that hit me with the kind of finesse I usually reserve for describing smoked brisket.
Yes, we both doubled up. No regrets. Don’t judge.

Then came the Lamb Meatballs. Y’all. Four perfect spheres of savory, spicy lamb, lovingly drenched in harissa marinara and flanked by garlic pita that was so soft it should’ve come with a warning label. Spicy. Smoky. Heavenly. I love lamb. My wife? Historically lamb-averse. But even she took a bite, paused mid-chew, and said, “Wait, this is lamb?” Reader, she KEPT eating. Miracles happen at Luma.

We followed with the Green Goddess Salad, which was her idea (naturally). Baby greens, crispy chickpeas, pickled shallots, and green beans so fresh they probably had voting rights. Dressing came on the side, per my wife’s eternal crusade against overdressed leaves. She declared it “refreshing.” I declared it “not BBQ but shockingly enjoyable.”

For our main, we split the Margherita Flatbread — San Marzano tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella arranged like edible artwork. Crispy crust, gooey cheese, and that sweet-tart tomato punch that made me briefly close my eyes like I was in a Mediterranean film montage. No extra toppings. No meat. And yet… it was perfect. (Yes, I’m a BBQ guy praising a vegetarian pizza. Put it in the record books.)

We skipped dessert, but not by choice — just too dang full. The only thing sweeter than the service was the realization that my wife was right. Again.

Would I come back? In a heartbeat—and next time I’ll bring friends so I can pretend I’m sharing while secretly planning to steal their meatballs.

So if you’re driving past that little strip center by the Petaluma River and think, “Looks plain”—don’t you dare keep driving. Pull over. Walk in. Order the lamb meatballs.

TL;DR:

Luma is the kind of place where a BBQ-loving, lamb-craving Texan finds joy in chickpeas and flatbread — and where his wife subtly steals the spotlight one composed bite at a time. Don’t sleep on it. Order the meatballs. Sip something good. And thank whoever made your reservation.

Food was great, full of unique flavor well portioned. Menu was short but had interesting options for everyone.

Service was friendly and helpful. Could be a bit more polished /trained to really shine.

Atmosphere was lovely. Welcoming and hip decor. The bar is modern and chic.

Could be another Crossroads kitchen (Beverly Hills, CA) in the making…

The menu is simple and small. But it has delicious complexities and enough variety to allow all foodies to enjoy. The location on one side is facing the Petaluma River and is gorgeous. The other side is a shopping center. The former should remain in the visitors mind. However, when leaving you are reminded of the strip mall it shares a parking lot with. But I digress, drinks were great although they didn’t have egg whites for a whisky sour. Which is a MUST for me. The food was amazing. Again, simple but not lacking in depth. The wait staff are wonderful and very attentive and friendly. We shared many plates and look forward to many more visits to try other plates!

Service, food and atmosphere were amazing. Didn’t know what to order and our wonderful server surprised us! We each got the squash soup to start and then shared the Italian beef sandwich. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back.

Two words: Fancy. Toast. Girlies, hear me out, we love having our little treats that are fantastic flavor and a balance between sweet/savory. The fancy toast is all of that. They come bite sized, and you can get four for $29. The leek fritters and steak fries were a great appetizer and especially delicious during happy hour. I definitely would come back here again on gorgeous weather days. The seating/furniture is inviting for groups who want a casual hangout.
