Instagramably photogenic. Diverse, eclectic decor and vibe. Professional, friendly service. But the actual Thai food was just okay for the pricetag. Midwest spicy scale, not Thai spicy scale. And crisp/crunchy parts of the meal weren’t. Still a neat part of the Crossroads.

Lulu’s Thai noodle shop is a great find for anyone who loves bold, comforting flavors. The menu offers a wide variety of noodle dishes, from rich, aromatic soups to perfectly sauced dry noodles, all cooked just right. Portions are generous, ingredients taste fresh, and the balance of spice and seasoning is spot on. Service is friendly and efficient, and the overall vibe is casual and welcoming. A solid choice for satisfying Thai noodles that keeps you coming back for more.

I have been subjected to racism from this establishment on various occasions, not an isolated event from one employee. The waitresses on various occasions watched me walk in and just stared at me and the store was virtually empty with few customers each time. Refused to greet me at the host stand and pretended I wasn’t there. When I walked up to them and asked for assistance I was told I needed to go back to the host stand with no further instructions as far as how long I should expect for them to come back to greet me etc despite there being absolutely no one at the host stand and that I spoke directly to them (a waitress, sometimes multiple waitresses). On this day (where I’m including pics because this is unacceptable and has occurred too often) this waitress stared at me at the host stand as I waited to be greeted, refused to greet me at the front, instructed me to go back to the host stand, and when I did she still refused to assist me. When I started walking back towards her as she still refused assistance, a white couple walked in and she darted to the host stand and seated them. I had been waiting about 15 minutes despite the restaurant being empty and being told she and others were too busy and I couldn’t get seated nor assistance when this waitress skipped me in line and pretended I was merely a figment of her imagination and helped the white couple who walked in a significant amount of time after me. When I spoke to the supervisor (man in pics), I was told it didn’t happen because that kind of stuff doesn’t happen there, and they don’t do anything racist there. I was gaslit, invalidated, and subjected to racism by the majority of the staff and these are the same ppl who tells ppl this kind of behavior only happened a hundred years ago so why do ppl still talk about it. Pure evil. I’ll never be back and if you’re black, you shouldn’t either. P.S, the girl in the white bandana, piercings, makeup, and tannish/brown pants is another waitress who’s watched me enter, refused to greet me, ignored me at the host stand, directed me back to the stand like a child or a dog, and ultimately still not returned to provide assistance and I ultimately had to get assistance from another employee. I spoke to the owner and there was no discount, refund or nothing offered. The employees weren’t fired or anything so this behavior is being rewarded.

Lulu’s never lets us down. Tonight we started with Tempura Vegetables and Crab Rangoons. Both were cooked perfectly and oh so tasty. Next we had the Spring Rolls. Very fresh and just wonderful. Then we had the Fried Cashews. What a great dish! I did not think they would be so good, but it was an excellent surprise. The flavors were incredible. Finally we had the Chicken Pad. Tasty, filling and spot on. Can’t go wrong.

After eating bbq all week I was craving Thai food so I came here based on all the reviews.
I’m pretty sure I ordered the wrong thing because it was gross. It’s decorated really cute inside and has a fun vibe.
Service was so slooooow. I asked the unfriendly young woman what’s the most common noodle dish people order and she said pad Thai. Ok great, I love pad Thai.
It came out and it was clear. Where’s the tamarind sauce? It was so plain and tasted like sugar and vinegar only. I didn’t even finish half the food it was so disappointing. I should’ve known better if the place looks too cute. IYKYK

Sorry this would not be a recommended nor go to spot. I purchased the coconut shrimp and ginger chicken lunch specials. Shrimp was overcooked almost dry, ginger chicken was dry fried and only a few pieces with hardly any vegetables and little to NO sauce. $24 The rice was the only thing cooked perfectly. Pics attached. I’ll stick to Bangkok off Metcalf they have the best Ginger chicken. Waited almost eight minutes for someone to take payment

We came in on a Sunday night around 7:30 and were seated immediately. Service started strong—our drinks came out very quickly, and we ordered the calamari appetizer, which was absolutely delicious. The price was a little high, but 100% worth it for how fresh it was and how generous the portion was.

For our meals, I ordered the house-made Pad Thai and my girlfriend chose the “Big Bowl of Soup” from the specials menu. Our food arrived in about 20 minutes, which was perfect timing after the appetizer. Unfortunately, the soup wasn’t to my girlfriend’s liking even after trying to season it with the sides they provided.

We flagged down the manager on duty, Brett, who kindly explained how the soup is meant to be seasoned to taste with sauces and spices. Even so, he had no problem taking it back and offering to make her something different. She ordered the Tom Kha soup instead—her go-to—and it was AMAZING. My Pad Thai was fantastic as well.

While we waited for the replacement soup, Brett even brought out complimentary spring rolls, which was incredibly thoughtful. He also reassured us that the original soup would be removed from our bill. Our server Emily was also spectacular the entire night—attentive, friendly, and on top of everything.

Overall, we had an amazing customer experience and truly felt taken care of. We will absolutely be back to try more dishes in the future!

We absolutely loved this restaurant! My wife and I lived in China for almost ten years, so we are familiar with Asian cuisine, and this was very authentic.

To start we had dumplings and calamari (i.e. squid), which was incredible! The dumplings were the best we’ve ever had, including abroad; they were juicy, but not soggy, and their flavor profile was fully preserved. And the squid was perfectly fried, giving it a nice crunch when biting into it, which was a great combination with the naturally soft and chewy texture of the squid.

For our main course, I had the Spicy Beef Jantaboon Noodles, and my wife had the Rainbow Peanut Noodles. These were by far the best noodles I’ve ever had! The best word I have to describe them is “flavorful”; these noodles combined spicy and savory flavors with other elements like the cilantro and scallions that added the occasional bite of fresh or crunchy that really complimented the whole dish.

We arrived around 1:00 pm, so it wasn’t crowded, but the atmosphere was really great. They really paid attention to their decor, which I appreciated. And the staff was very helpful and friendly. Our waitress knew the menu and was very helpful. She gave us our privacy, but didn’t neglect our table.

Parking can be difficult to find because of the location downtown, but this food is absolutely worth it! I don’t think you can find better Thai food in Kansas City!

Great food! Went for Valentine’s Day and had wonderful service and got a good deal on a 3 course meal for 2. Drinks are also great! Def my go-to recommendation for Thai or Noodles in downtown KC!
