Social Profile:

On September 2, 1999 Lula Cafe opened in a small storefront on Kedzie Boulevard with a four burner home stove and a dented collection of thrifted pots and pans. Today, stretching three storefronts, it is the founding member of the nationally recognized Logan Square culinary community and a celebrated forerunner of the ‘farm to table’ movement in Chicago. We serve brunch that is casual, simple yet sophisticated, with ingredients like farm fresh eggs and grains ground at a local mill. Besides the daily offering of meat and fish from sustainable sources, we serve adventurous fare for vegetarians. While at dinner the food is more intricate and formal, we never cede the accessibility and youthfulness with which Lula was begun. Please join us.

Inventive, market-driven food in a casual, funky space that hosts an especially popular brunch.

First time visiting and it was amazing! Staff is really friendly and very attentive. Struggled on picking what to order because everything on the menu sounded so good, ended up getting a breakfast burrito and a cappuccino. Portions seem to be big (especially the burrito), definitely a great place for sharing! I’m not much of a coffee drinker but everyone talked about the coffee that I needed to try it myself. It was SO good. Things are a little pricey but it’s definitely worth every cent. I HIGHLY recommend the carrot cake. It’s the best carrot cake I’ve ever had. Very moist and not too sweet. If you are dining with just two people, definitely recommend asking for a booth if you’re sat by the emergency exit. They have three tiny tables for duos and it’s cute but if you want more room, ask for a booth! Overall, I’d definitely come back here.

Lula Café was absolutely excellent. Every dish was thoughtful, beautifully presented, and—most importantly—delicious. The flavors were vibrant and well-balanced, and nothing felt repetitive despite the variety across the menu.

The pacing and portion sizes were spot on: enough to feel satisfied without ever feeling heavy. The Pecorino cake deserves special mention—an unusual choice for dessert, but truly extraordinary and memorable.

You can tell real care goes into both the cooking and the overall experience. A standout meal that lives up to its reputation. Easily a place I’d return to and confidently recommend.

Good one-of-a-kind hole in the wall restaurant that’s gained a very dedicated following. They pride themselves on fresh, ethically sourced and responsible dishes, and so every dish is crafted with love and is very unique. I will say it’s quite a wait to get a seat on their popular days, and the dishes are priced to reflect the cost of the labor. Not a breakfast spot for everyone, but if you are looking for a unique experience and good food and have the time and wallet, it’s definitely worth a try.

Very busy breakfast and brunch spot. I was looking for a place to eat after an early flight into the city. It was NYE so maybe that had something to do with how busy it was on an early Wednesday morning. I was able to squeeze in at the bar and ordered a local beer while I decided on what to eat. I settled on the specialty pork belly breakfast sandwich but the burrito was a close second. The service was exceptional, I never wanted for anything. The sandwich was tender and flavorful. The slaw, which was more like a quick kimchi was too good to just be on the side and most of it made its way onto my sandwich. I paid extra for a side of potatoes, but they were worth it. Everything was excellent but pricey. I expected that coming in and was prepared. They also charge a 20% service fee, which was clearly marked. I would come back with someone I wanted to impress with brunch.

Service, dishes and drinks were beyond delightful. We didn’t realize there was a Chicago Restaurant Week menu until we were seated at the bar. One glance and we knew that would be our direction. It was the perfect amount of food and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. We can’t wait to return!

Lula Cafe nailed it. The chickpea frites were to die for, and the beet bruschetta was my favorite—creative, curious, and seriously memorable. We topped it off with two free scoops of Meyer lemon poppyseed ice cream for my girlfriend’s birthday, which was the perfect sweet finish.

Next-level service, addictive atmosphere, and great vibes all around. One small note: the dinner menu is lighter on protein, so fellow carnivores—breakfast or lunch is your best bet.

Still a must-visit Logan Square gem.

Lula Cafe offers a welcoming, kid-friendly atmosphere that’s great for families. They don’t take reservations, but we were seated as a party of four after about a 30-minute wait, which felt reasonable given how busy it was. Once seated, the service was prompt, kind, and attentive. The French toast really stood out—unique and well executed, with the added grapefruit providing a bright, refreshing twist. The breakfast burrito was very filling, but it lacked flavor and could benefit from more seasoning or contrast. Overall, a pleasant brunch experience with thoughtful service, especially when dining with kids.

I don’t know what witchery Lula does but every single thing they touch tastes like heaven.

I’ve tasted flavors at Lula that I’ve never tasted in my life. The food is so high quality and so properly thought out. Every flavor compliments each other. I want to kiss the chef on the forehead because the flavors and experience I’ve had at Lula is unlike any other restaurant.

I’ve been here for two farm dinners and I can’t wait to keep coming back for more.

Wow. Food was absolutely outstanding and even better service. Jonathan our server really made our night and was probably one of the best servers we have ever had. Very attentive and friendly and helped us choose what to order.
Lula Cafe offers a very eclectic menu with food pairings you’d never think would work, but somehow does.
10/10 and definitely will be back.
Don’t sleep on the What’s Up Doc cocktail with Bourbon and Carrot Liquor.

It was glorious! I ordered the garlic & chive dip, pasta yiayia, and a cranberry danish and everything was incredible. I had no idea cinnamon pasta was even a thing, but it was shockingly good. There’s a fixed 20% tip, but even with that I only paid about $54 for all of this. Honestly, such a great deal.
