We are a local family-owned business bringing our authentic bagel recipe to Gainesville. With the use of a New York WaterMaker, we are able to replicate authentic New York water mixed into every bagel. Bagels are made on-site from scratch and are boiled and baked fresh every single morning. We apologize for any wait times our customers experience as we are currently located in a tiny brick and mortar shop. We hope you can stop in sometime soon.

Was told I had to visit this long time Gainesville establishment as there is much lore for it. We came right before closed (because we tried earlier on Monday but they are closed on Mondays) so they were out of most bagels, bacon, hash browns, and certain cream cheese flavors. However probably because we came so late, we were one of like 3 people ordering. The wait seemed a little longer than needed for 3 bagels with cream cheese but it is what it is. Was looking forward to trying one of their famous sandwiches but with the bacon being out and them not doing deli anymore (despite it still being in the menu) we kept it simple. The poppy had tons of poppyseeds without being super messy so that was a win. The bagels are large and texture could be good but maybe was a little too chewy for me. Can get pricey depending on what you order. Might try again but not sure.

I’ll start by saying the worker there was super nice and this is a great spot to pick up something quick.
Nice presentation, a little underwhelming on the toastedness and overall flavor. Significant lack of crunch. Seasoning was ample on the top, but overall the texture was not there. Good for a florida bagel, idk about NY tho..

As a NYer sorry to say this was a disappointment. They use to be better. They had a trailer come to Jonesville today. It was 40 mins after opening time and they still were not open bc of “traffic” They did not have 3 of the bagel varieties offered on the menu, that’s half of your menu. The cream cheese was a sad (maybe a tablespoon) amount dumped in a coffee cup and the bagel taste awful, yeasty and undercooked too doughy texture (after I toasted it). I love supporting local small business but you can only be this unprepared if you really don’t want to be doing it.

Terrible experience. If I could leave negative stars I would . From the cashier stopping the order I was placing to answer the phone to the LIGHTLY TOASTED REGULAR CREAM CHEESE bagel that came out the literal opposite and when I had to walk all the way back to correct it I was met with attitude. I’m sorry I didn’t realize it was a hard request at a place that only serves bagels . Once I got home the experience got worse . One bagel had a hair in it absolutely disgusting and one bagel was so large and so full of cream cheese that it was actually unappetizing. I will attach pictures since your staff seem very combative when called out . I understand you might be training new employees but that doesn’t excuse poor quality and poor service . Also it’s a health code violation to not be wearing hair nets or hair restraints . Very sad , I usually come here when in town visiting my Gator . I did hear a new bagel shop is opening soon .
Good luck to you

This place has had the best bagels in Gainesville for sometime. They recently changed ownership and my last visit with them was a little disappointing. Had a big crowd coming over so pre-order two days early but when I got there, they had no idea about my order so they let me take half of what I needed. No apologies no explanations.if you’re looking for a good bagel. This is still the place I’d go check out but hope they get their act together.

Some of the best bagels I’ve ever had! Definitely gotta come here earlier before they start running out of bagel flavors next time. Highly recommend their bagel sandwiches. Service was friendly, but there was a bit of a wait for the sandwiches. Prices reasonable for Gainesville.
Edit: Can confirm they are just as good if not slightly better than bagels in NYC!!

I have wanted to try this place for weeks! I finally did, and it’s truly delicious! I bought 5 or 6 bagels , the quality in the taste and freshness is unmatchable to anything else! The bagels are not hard, way better than store bought bagels! The bacon egg and cheese one is perfect and fresh and top quality! I tried the “bagel flight” to taste test some cream cheese flavors, and all were sooo yummy! The maple nut cream cheese was amazing, as was the one with chives in it! I will be coming back again soon to try other bagel flavors! And to take pics of my food to post, they disappeared so fast I couldn’t capture a photo , but it was a wonderful experience! Perfection

I have loved this place for several years but think its time is over.
First and foremost, I like butter on my bagels and they seem to have changed up how that is doled out – it’s not even on the menu anymore. I asked if they still had butter and the kid probably more accurately should have said no, or clarified. I ordered butter on my cinnamon raisin bagel and it was not what it used to be or adequate for a surcharge, nevermind NY-style.
I also ordered simply a sliced everything bagel with the intent to make a sandwich with it at home. Received that bagel effectively broken. It was so mangled I couldn’t use it as a sandwich and had a hard time buttering it at home.
For a $15 purchase alongside my coffee and tip before I’m served, this is ridiculous. I also watched them hand someone a boiling cup of coffee and the lid pop off and burn the guy. Basics.
Still a tasty bagel but I can wait until I’m back in NY for better service which is an absurd statement in itself.

Went on a Friday morning at 10am, there were about 5 people in front of me. Ordered a garlic bagel and plain bagel with cream cheese and hashbrowns.
The hashbrowns came out in 5 minutes, but were terrible. They looked just like Trader Joe’s hashbrowns, but were soggy, lukewarm, and unappetizing. Two toasted bagels took them another 10 minutes; I had to go to the front and ask where my order was because they seem to have forgotten. The bagels came out barely toasted with a ton of cream cheese. They tasted just like Thomas’ Bagels that you can get from Publix, but 4x the price, absolutely nothing noteworthy about them.
I was always told as a student how great Luke’s is, and unfortunately my first time visiting will be my last. The establishment seems to be operated by highschoolers that have no urgency whatsoever. Their food is mediocre at best, and the same level as Dunkin’ Donuts at worst.
Not only was it a waste of my money, but worst of all they disappointed my girlfriend who was extremely excited to show me her once favorite bagel establishment in Gainesville.
Thank you Luke’s New York Bagel Shop for reaffirming to me that bagels are the most overrated bread in existence, and that there is absolutely nothing special about them.

We have had good experiences in this location but quality has drastically reduced over the years. We arrived around 11, ordered a bagel with sausage and cheese, and one with smear and hashbrowns. Got the order but was told the hashbrowns were coming. Waited over a half an hour for 2 bagels. When we looked at the order there was egg in the bagel (I have an egg allergy so it’s completely inedible) and the hashbrowns were not cooked.
Completely wasted our time and money.
Also attempted to call the location 3 times and was ignored.
