Pretty tasty and popular local BBQ. Has a vintage charm to the dining room, really nice when they fire up the fireplace. The big spuds are very good, as are the pulled pork sandwiches. Salad bar is unimpressive, but why the heck are you getting a salad at a place like this?

Sometimes their food is terrific. The BBQ sauce is out of this world. Sometimes, depending on the time of day, the service and product presented are subpar and potatoes can be tough in spots and hard to eat. The management/owner can be unwilling to listen and defensive when an issue is brought to his attention. I suggest buying the sauce and making your own potatoes at home. It really is very good.

For $12 got a combo platter. Sausage and pulled pork. 5 slices of sausage and single sandwich worth of pulled pork. Very small portions for the cost. Not bad in taste, although not the best in Kearney. Might not even be above Dickies BBQ. Chance of return visit is low.

A lot of potential here. Food was ok. I had the brisket sandwhich, wife had the turkey. I should have tried the ribs. Service was lackluster during off peak times. Kustard was great. Price was reasonable. I would certainly give it another shot during peak times but wouldn’t come to Kearney just for the this. Again, a lot of potential.

I stopped by Luke and Jakes while heading to view the eclipse. The food was perfect and the sauce was amazing. Whenever I am in Kearney I will stop for a delicious meal.

The brisket was chopped, dry and had no bark. The pulled pork was dry and tasteless. The cole slaw and potato salad tasted like they came from the grocery. Other than that it’s probably a nice place to have a beer.

Very fast, Great BBQ! I am from out of town and they were really nice and had a great experience. Next time I’m in Kearney I’ll come here again. Definitely recommended.

Had the Beef Brisket sandwich. Meat was dry, needed some more bbq sauce. Bun fell apart two bites into the sandwich. Looked like a bun from a $1 pack of hamburger buns. Beans and potato salad were fine.
I’ve heard this is a great place. Kind of sad that my experience went this way. I’ll probably try it again though.
And, if you don’t want me to use the styrofoam drink cups for bbq sauce, then put some cups that I CAN use, right beside the bbq sauce. Otherwise, I’ll take a large drink cup next time, and fill that thing up to the top with sauce.

The food was great! Took a moment for us to get noticed though, as all the employees were in the back. Didn’t have to wait long and they allow dogs in their outside eating area.
