Originally from the small town of Monte di Procida, Italy, Vinny Assante and Domenico Fevola (chefs/owners/cousins) moved to Chestertown in the late ’90s. Luisa’s was opened on November 13, 2000. Together, they have worked diligently to keep alive their dream that is Luisa’s ! Luisa’s boasts a wood-fired pizza oven, a beautiful granite cocktail bar, and serves authentic, simple, locally-sourced cuisine in a casual, rustic-modern and family friendly atmosphere. I intended to take a picture of my meal for this review BEFORE I ate it but my brain failed me when they placed the plate in front of me. This place is a gem. I’ve been here many times but I wanted to share my feelings with you because they are stellar. If you’re local (or just passing by) treat yourself to an excellent meal at Luisa’s. You won’t regret it. I’m not easy on my restaurant reviews so trust me this place is really that good

Was our first time eating here today. Busy lunchtime crowd but service was phenomenal. I cannot remember our waitresses name but she was an older gal who was extremely friendly and top notch. I’d come back just to have her again as our waitress.

I had the cream of crab soup and thought it was delicious. Had plenty of crab meat and very flavorful. We also had the Mozzarella Caprese which was fresh and tasty. We also ordered the chicken parm which was decent. The chicken was slightly overcooked but still pretty good, especially for $11. She had the Shrimp Riviera which was just ok as a couple of the shrimp were a little mushy. We probably wouldn’t order that dish again. We will absolutely be back to try out a few more items from the menu! Thank you for a nice first experience!

The best dine-in Italian Restaurant in Chestertown! They have excellent service, the wait staff are amazing! Their food is delicious and has HUGE portions! They accommodated our birthday party of 14 guests! Everything was delicious! We love going there!

Decided to swing in here this evening with my husband and daughter, we ordered meatballs for my daughter and lemonade. Both came immediately. My husband and I ordered a shrimp cocktail and crab soup and two chef specials. 20 minutes had gone by, And we started to wonder where our appetizers were. Another 20 minutes goes by and we finally ask our waitress what the hold up is. I assume that the shrimp cocktail is already prepped regardless if it wasn’t, it’s very easy to just put some shrimp on a plate with cocktail sauce. As well, I assume the crab soup is probably already prepped in a large batch and all you have to do is put it in a bowl and bring it out to a table. Our waitress told us that she would go check on what’s going on on two separate occasions. The third time we told her we would just take all our food to go. AGAIN, we waited. So we flagged another waitress and said we would just take the check for the meatballs and go. The waitress we flagged down asked our waitress who was passing at the time we were having this conversation What was going on with the appetizers and our waitress had said that she told the kitchen to hurry. So here we are at like almost an hour in the restaurant And they haven’t even started making our appetizers. I end up taking my daughter out to the car because at this point a three-year-old has been trying to sit still for an hour While my husband paid. He came to the car and informed me that nobody apologized or said anything to him. A complete waste of a night just to go home on empty stomach’s and sit in a restaurant irritated.

Locals already know about this gem in Chestertown but travelers might overlook it…that would be a mistake. The food here is outstanding. Our party had the swordfish (with a lemon sauce and capers over angel hair pasta), the fettuccine Alfredo, and the tortellini with meat sauce. All were delicious. The desserts may be the highlight – the carrot cake was out of this world. The only slight dings were they were understaffed so service was a bit slow and the vibe was comfortable but not spectacular. Neither of these significantly detracted from an excellent meal.

I had dinner here the other night for the first time, and I had one of the best Italian dinners in awhile! The food was phenomenal, the atmosphere was wondering, and the service was very attentive. We had one of the wood fire pizzas, pasta with scalloped, and chicken parmesan. The portions were generous and we had to get to go boxes! I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great Italian meal!

Best in town! This is no surprise to locals, and a Friday or Saturday all but requires a reservation. Menu is long, food is excellent. I gotta try their pizza as it looks like they’re making pies by the ton! Ate at the bar, Debbie long timer bartender server, was most excellent. Specials of the day, wife had the salmon..just look at it! She said excellent. I had a chicken piccatta off menu request and 3 pieces of tastyness! Local know…visitors must go!!

My wife and I are from CT and we were in town this past weekend visiting family. We ended up ordering pizza for something quick and easy for dinner. We got the ultimate meat and ultimate veggie pizzas. They were both outstanding, but the ultimate veggie….this was far and away THE best veggie pizza I’ve ever had. Being from the pizza capital of the country, I hope y’all understand the magnitude of that statement. The combination of the vegetables used and how they were roasted on the pie, expertly done.
