Lucky Pie Pizza & Tap House was founded in 2012 with a dedication to Colorado in mind. Our Chefs make dough fresh every day from organic Colorado flour; It’s hand stretched, topped with locally sourced ingredients and cooked in a hand-built brick oven. We work with local farmers and ranchers to change our menu with the grow season. We also happen to be serious beer nerds. We have an incredible selection of craft beer curated by people that know their shit. Pizza. Beer. Love.
Rustic Italian menu, pies topped with organic ingredients & craft beers served in industrial digs.

The happy hour is restricted to the bar area only, but the bar area is now limited to guests 13 and older. While I understand setting age limits, effectively removing happy hour from the families who filled your restaurant every Friday feels like a major miss and a departure from what made Lucky Pie special in the first place.
What made the situation worse was how it was handled. The manager tonight was dismissive and openly explained that offering happy hour broadly was no longer “economically viable,” which may be true, but it was communicated with little regard for longtime customers. Because our son still wanted the pizza, we reluctantly ordered carryout and ate elsewhere. The total came to nearly $90(!!!) for three pizzas, which was shocking given the quality we received.
One pizza included bacon that was essentially raw (see photo), and the crust itself seemed undercooked and noticeably lacking the flavor Lucky Pie used to be known for.
This place used to be our happy place and a weekly ritual for our family. It’s disappointing to say that it now feels like a memory rather than somewhere we’ll return to. Ironically, when we walked back by around 6:55pm on our way to get ice cream next door at Sweet Cow, the restaurant was nearly empty… hmmm, shocker.
As a long time, customer who frequents the bar, I would really like to give a shout-out to how much I LOVE that you have decided not to allow children in the bar area. Those of us without children who just want to have a drink and eat some fantastic food really appreciate it. Plus, there is plenty of space in the restaurant for the groups with children.
My favorite pizza here is the burrata pizza. It does change seasonally but this is always a welcome surprise.
The beer list, which is usually heavy on IPAs, always has a lot of nice lagers and stouts as well.
The pizzas were not big. I would say they would feed 1.5 adults. A hungry adult (like me) could easily wolf down a whole pie. We each took home some pizza for leftovers. When the bill arrived, my son’s eyes nearly popped out of his head at the price. He was the one who recommended the place, and he was shocked.
What’s weird is that the place was full of families with kids under 5 yrs old. Little kids everywhere. I figured the place would be reasonably priced with lots of young families. Nope.
Yes, the pizza is good, but not the best I’ve ever had. It’s definitely the most expensive pizza I’ve ever had.
1. You can only qualify for happy hour if you sit in the bar area; if you sit in the dining room or outside you’re not eligible
2. New policy: kids under 13 are NOT allowed in the bar area (our kids are 6, 9, 11). I asked why, is it a legal thing, but they were cagey and just said it’s their new policy. I said they should publicize this policy on their website because it’s a surprise for families who were planning on happy hour. I’m guessing they had some squirrely kids disrupting their bar area. and this is their attempt to lock it down
3. Therefore if you have kids: you don’t qualify for happy hour at Lucky Pie’s (eg $6 cheese pizzas).
So families: unless they change this discriminatory policy and extend happy hour to the entire restaurant, you should steer clear and take your happy hour business (or maybe all of it) elsewhere!
Which is a shame because Lucky Pie is a beloved local Louisville institution. I guess they aren’t hurting for business, and can afford to discriminate like this.
It’s 7:22pm on a Saturday night, and there were 5 tables. Took forever for the hostess to even show up to seat us and the family behind. Then we sat for about 10 minutes before our server came with water, and we ordered. She brought us back our drinks, then the only other time we saw our server was when the pizza was brought, and for the check. Our drinks were empty for the whole meal. Further, she was just unfriendly and curt.
Unfortunately there were also flies galore (inside, in November) and the bathroom was a mess.
Honestly this was just bad.
That said, the pizza is amazing. So probably a good idea to just get carryout.
Note that you have to sit at the bar (or patio I believe when it’s open) to take advantage of the special. Pretty decent amount of bar seating.
