However, there is one major downside. I’ve been here multiple times, and the tables are always dirty. Unfortunately, they don’t seem to be cleaned, which really affects the overall dining experience.
The pizza itself is good, but the cleanliness seriously needs improvement.
1. The Pizza is phenomenal. Very crispy, nice and hot, so flavorful. Of all my time being in New York , this is easily a top 3 pizza place! Garlic knots are great as well.
2. The employees are very nice and professional. In fact, one time they gave me 2 free slices because it was nearly closing time. If that doesn’t tell you how friendly the staff are at this place, I don’t know what will.
3. 100% recommend to everyone. Lots of families and people come by to eat here, so it can be very busy at times. Make sure to go at the right time that’s all!
Those same influencers said it was an off menu item and we had to ask, like it’s a big secret. Wrong, it’s on the menu and has been for years. This isn’t Lucia’s fault at all. Here is the issue though; the Piccanti ($27) has a vodka sauce base, and has pepperoni and hot cherry peppers. I asked for the Piccanti but with regular tomato sauce and one side just pepperoni. Apparently that’s not an option so I had to order a pepperoni pie ($26) which has a tomato base and then add the Piccanti toppings on the other half. Okay I thought, same outcome but it wasn’t until I went to pay that I found out it cost an additional $5 which came out to $31 plus tax. So basically I had to pay $4 more than a full Piccanti costs and received half the toppings just cause I wanted a tomato base. Mind you, everywhere you go a vodka pie is more expensive than a plain cheese. If anything it should have been less than $27 but I would never assume that. Just seems like a weird system they have in place if you want to customize an order.
Anyway, the Piccanti redeemed the experience. We both agreed it was very good 9/10. We had a third buddy who was at work and we brought him the pepperoni slices. He can’t handle spicy peppers at all which is the reason we needed one side half pep only. He gave it an 8.7. Would I come back here? Probably not, unless I was in the area. L’Industrie, Pizza Time, Luigi’s, and Krispy are tastier Brooklyn options. I’m glad I got to try another Brooklyn hot spot though.
