Since 1930, our family has been baking quality products for dessert lovers like you. Our story begins with my father-in-law, John Slove, being hired to work as an apprentice in a Chicago bakery. While there he learned everything there is to know about baking. Then, in 1946, he and my mother-in-law, Grace, opened their own bakery on Diversey Avenue in Chicago – Slove Bakery. Their goal was to produce great quality desserts and provide excellent customer service: he did the baking; she the hand shaking. Through hard work and determination they grew the business and the bakery’s reputation as one of the finest in the Chicagoland area.

Stephanie is amazing! We accidentally decided to wait until the last minute to pick out our cake and searched for a few bakeries in the area and ended up finding Lovin Oven. We spoke with Stephanie and she set up a ‘to-go’ tasting box for us to take home (we do not live in the area we got married) and it could not have been better! They included 6 different cakes and I believe 10 different frostings/fillings, which was plenty to do 2 taste tests and be sure we liked our decision! We only had a hard time deciding because we loved them all! They are extremely reasonable on pricing and delivery! We almost ended up paying $300 just for delivery elsewhere!! Go with them if you want an easy booking experience and DELICIOUS cake!

I have not had something here that I didn’t like. From the breads to the banana crème pie to the pumpkin roll, everything has tasted great. We had breakfast on a weekday and that was good too. On the weekends, it is BUSY. Only reason for 4/5 is their lack of processes – use the number system! Regardless, I’ll be back.

We love this bakery and have over many years turned to Lovin Oven for our wedding cake, birthday cakes and drop ins for donuts and cookies. I ordered 20 sugar cookies for my daughters birthday. I was told to pick up on Sunday around noon. When I arrived at 1 pm they were closed. $80 worth of cookies and they were also closed Monday. They didn’t call, send a reminder text nor mention on the phone they closed at 1 pm. I also asked for the cookies to be individually wrapped as they were being handed out at a softball game. When I picked up on Tuesday they were in an open box. They are not fresh and not what I asked for. So. I will be reconsidering patronizing the bakery in the future. Very sad.

We have never been in a bakery like this one – huge selection, very nice atmosphere, seems to have a very loyal following, and the store itself is oversized. Coffee was high quality and fresh. Their cake slices are fresh and rich. Employees were pleasant. Carrot cake was spot on!

Although this is a beautiful bakery and clearly the beautiful products, I’m very bothered by the outrageous hike in prices over the last couple of weeks. Yes there is inflation and cost has gone up but this hike was too extreme!
