Love & Salt

Social Profile:

Love & Salt is a story that begins with Cafe Pierre, a restaurant birthed by Guy Gabriele in 1977 to bring a taste of France to Los Angeles’ South Bay. While Cafe Pierre was a beloved part of the community for nearly 37 years, in 2014, Guy and his daughter Sylvie Gabriele, now the owner of Love & Salt, closed the restaurant to bring new life to the iconic space. Love & Salt is a philosophy: that food needs only two ingredients to be great. It’s a sensibility that informs the feeling in the restaurant and the dishes on the menu — Italian-inspired with Southern California soul. An approachable wine list and classic cocktail program similarly reflect the vibrant SoCal setting of the restaurant, located just steps from the Manhattan Beach pier

Refined, contemporary dining room with a sky-lit domed ceiling serving Italian bistro fare.

Been on my list to try for awhile and it was well worth it. The place can be pretty busy given the location, so I recommend making a reservation if you have a bigger party.

Taking a walk by the beach is the perfect build up to gorging yourself on amazing pasta and pizza to complement the amazing cocktails they have. Love and Salt had the perfect balance of both ingredients in their namesake, and I was blown away by every dish there. The half chicken was phenomenal, but HOT TIP: get it with a side of bread if you’re too scared to drink the broth at the bottom of the plate. Can’t waste any of that LIQUID GOLD! A beautiful experience at a beautiful restaurant. Will be back soon, I swear!

After meeting with friends someone recommended this local place for dinner. We didn’t hesitate and decided to show up without reservations, they got us a nice spot within 10 minutes. The food was delicious, the service was very good. The owner or general manager stopped by to make sure we were well taken care of. Overall great experience, can’t wait to go back.

What can be said? EVERYTHING was exquisite! Service with a smile and just the most delicious items. Pizza, pasta Bologese, Scallops, Meatballs, Burreta with garlic bread, mushroom caneloni, baked, and then fried artichoke, Spaghetti limoneli. The coup de gras was the Tiramisu. My God even the pressed coffee was extraordinary. Just go, run don’t walk.

Food was great. Place is very loud when it’s busy. I was appalled by the way the manager/server handled my check. I accidentally didn’t tip. When we were leaving the manager TOLD me they added 20% tip since I didn’t tip. The correct thing to do was while we were sitting at the table after we paid, ask me if there was any issues with service. I would have said no everything was amazing. Then ask if I’d like to tip. Don’t TELL me. I was very pissed the way it was handled. I will never be back just for that. Food was great. Service needs to learn how to treat people and issues when they come up. I was happy to tip the server after the fact. I was not happy when the people TELL me they already added the tip. Not ok boys.

Some of the best food we have had in LA! This place has an amazing passion for high quality food. We had an unforgettable anniversary. Love the atmosphere, the amazing staff and especially the fantastic food. We had Grilled Octopus Salad, Grilled Broccolini, Prosciutto Di Parma & Tamai Farms Peaches, pizza Margherita, Strozzapretti Costolette, Spaghetti Alla Chitarra Cacio E Pepe and Chocolate Peanut Butter Crunch for dessert! Everything was so delicious and full of flavors. We will definitely be back for more

Absolutely amazing! Spontaneous day in Manhattan Beach, we stopped here for dinner as an early birthday celebration for a friend. Incredible ambiance, excellence choice of music, our server, Antoinette was a joy, so sweet and gave thoughtful recommendations. We had the carrots and Arugula Salad as appetizers. The flavors were so delicious, it blended together nicely with every bite. And we had the Japanese Mushroom pizza which came recommended it was probably the best pizza I’ve had in LA so far being from New York. Then dessert was the dark chocolate almond cake, it came with whipped cream and this chocolate sauce to dip, very rich but not over baring and flavorful. Loved this place would highly recommend and come again .

Gorgeous place not far the beach serving an awesome brunch with a menu of bottomless cocktails. The food was outstanding as was the service. Their sangria made me wish I had taken a Lyft, so I could enjoy more. The stone fruit marmalade in the pancake was delicious. Everything was delicious. Treat yourself and grab a bite.

Very attentive service and some unique dish options. The grilled octopus was great as well as the home made English muffins. The skirt steak was the least impressive option we chose but not bad. Really enjoyed the cheaken meatballs inside the Rigatoni dish my wife ordered. They were enhanced with some extra fat I believe and were very juicy and flavorful.
