The portions are generous, the flavors are outstanding, and the quality is consistent every single time. Whether it’s their fluffy pancakes, perfectly seasoned omelets, or crispy bacon, each bite is pure comfort. The coffee is always fresh and hot, and the service makes you feel like family.
What truly sets Louisa’s Place apart is their absolutely amazing customer service. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure every guest feels welcome, cared for, and leaves with a smile.
Louisa’s isn’t just a breakfast spot—it’s an experience. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to slow down, savor your meal, and soak in the friendly atmosphere. If you’re in San Luis Obispo and crave a truly amazing breakfast, Louisa’s Place is a must-visit!
Come with an empty stomach and a large appetite or someone to share with; portion sizes are big.
I had the Spanish omelette with cottage cheese instead of potatoes, and my wife had the Spanish omelette with the potatoes.
Presentation and Taste: The food looked good and tasted great. Portion sizes were big; four eggs were used for each omelette, and there was lots of guacamole. It reminded me of the big scoop of guacamole you get at Chipotle. It was the first time that I’ve had salsa INSIDE an omelette, and it worked. Offering a side of cottage cheese instead of potatoes is a good idea for those who want more protein and less carbs. I went with an English muffin instead of pancakes; it was toasted to perfection.
Price: $18 for an omelette this size with guacamole, sour cream, cottage cheese (about 15 grams of protein), and an English muffin is well-priced.
Overall value: Great overall value. Great food, great service, and well-priced. The only negative is the limited seating. If you can, sit outside
A true homemade gem in the heart of San Luis Obispo!
Louisa’s Place feels like stepping into a cozy kitchen where everything is made with love. The steak and eggs were cooked perfectly—tender, flavorful, and just the right portion to start the day strong. The Florentine eggs were a highlight too: fresh, creamy, and balanced with just the right amount of spinach and hollandaise.
But what really seals the experience is the homemade touch—from the fluffy bread served warm with butter to the perfectly brewed coffee in their classic mugs. It’s hearty, comforting food that reminds you of family breakfasts, but with the kind of quality and care you only find in a place that takes pride in every plate.
If you’re in San Luis Obispo, don’t miss Louisa’s Place—it’s comfort food done right, with a true homemade taste.
The negatives: seating is tight, so if you’re disabled I would suggest sitting outside. We had to remind them to bring us our drinks and silverware. We also waited a long time to get our bill, so long that my wife actually took our baby daughter to the car and waited there for us. Prices are what they are these days, especially with the increase in the cost of eggs. They’ve no need to price competitively(but really, who does anymore since minimum wage got increased) because they’re always hella busy.
To be fair: It seemed they were understaffed, hopefully due to a sick call and not just for profitability’s sake The waitress working the counter was doing double duty with a smile on her face and waiting tables with one other waitress. And despite the small size of the establishment, they were very busy.
Overall thoughts: I would order ahead and take breakfast to go, if possible. And if you have small children that aren’t accustomed to eating out, skip this establishment or sit outdoors if possible. It sucks being the parents whose kids ruin the atmosphere for other patrons. Live and learn.
