Cozy, time-tested spot known for deep-dish pizza & antipasto & decorated with empty wine bottles.

We had been seeing this place pop up on my feed for a while, so when my friend group and I were in Detroit we wanted authentic Detroit style pizza, so this was the obvious choice. We made sure to get there right when they opened and there were already people trickling in and the waitress mentioned the locals come so regularly it’s basically a habit at this point.
We ordered three different pizzas for 4 people. They have premade options but you can also build your own with toppings. Everything was delicious and exactly what we expected from Detroit pizza. The inside has this really fun retro vibe with wine bottles decorations. It is a great place for any occasion, families, date night, a big friend group, or even coming alone for a bite. Would recommend if you’re in the area and want the real deal.

I visited Loui’s yesterday with my preschool-age daughter. We were in town from Indiana so I wanted to get her the most authentic old-school Detroit style pizza possible and Loui’s came highly reccomended. It was our first time ever eating here. The food was awesome and my waitress was pretty great too. She was friendly to me and my daughter, made great suggestions, and gave all-around great service. I reccomend this place based off my experience and will personally go back when I’m in Detroit again.

Have been wanting to try this place for a while and glad the parking and long wait for a table did not deter us. The ambience was great — noisy but not so loud that you had to shout across the table for your party to hear you — and the waitress was friendly and attentive despite it being a busy Saturday night. She was helpful when we asked about the sizes of the dishes and we were glad she talked us into sizing down for the salad and pizza. We ordered antipasto for the famous dressing, a small Detroit style pizza (my husband and I were barely able to finish 1 1/2 squares), and my daughters ordered a small ravioli with meat sauce and a spaghetti with meat sauce each. The crust in the pizza was crispy and the cheese pull for the stuffing was 10/10. We are normally thin crust/NY style pizza fans but this was definitely tasty. The crust dipped in the homemade ranch was also delicious. For us the stars of the show were the salad (perfectly dressed) and the spaghetti. The spaghetti sauce was slightly sweet which is how we like our sauce and they were generous with the meat. I would come back and endure the wait just for the pasta dishes! We had no room for dessert but will be fighting over who gets to eat the leftovers over the next couple of days.

Very busy and crowed. No chicken tenders or wings or potato wedges. Food was fine. No romaine lettuce. No ranch dressing. I ordered a medium antipasto salad which was smaller than i normally get. It had alot of cheese, not enough ham and Salami. The Pizza was good i just did not like the green peppers on it were raw. I enjoy the things I ordered much more at the original buddys location.

This place is amazing and exceeded our expectations on a Saturday evening! We have bookmarked this place to get a bite of Detriot style pizza. The parking lot is challenging, and we park in the lot opposite to Loui’s. As we entered the restaurant, we could feel a completely different vibe with a lot of bottles hanging on the ceiling and a lot of families having conversations and enjoying their food. It felt this was a great place. We were greeted and provided a seating.
We ordered mediterranean salad, Cheese Ravioli, and then the pizza. The waitress was courteous and mentioned the full house and wait times. The food came in about 30 minutes.
The salad was well prepared, and we all liked it. The cheese ravioli was perfectly made, and the sauce was just right and thoroughly enjoyable and must try.
Then we got the pizza, perfect crispy and cheese, and we can feel the goodness in taste on every bite. This was one of the best pizzas we had in some time. It’s definitely worth the visit and hype for this joint.

This pizza was the best pizza I’ve ever eaten.I’m not a huge pizza fan, though we order it quite frequently. This pizza beat any I had in NYC or Chicago. This is crave worthy pizza. BEST PIZZA IN THE WORLD!!!! The crust is cheesy, flavorful, and light. The amount of cheese to crust is one to one and perfect. The cheese has so much flavor and so does the sauce. Aside from the amazing pizza the atmosphere was so cool. For $20 we got a bottle of wine, got to decorate it, and hang it. The service was so nice and welcoming.

5/5 which shouldn’t be a surprising to anyone that has eaten here. A comfortable and homey feel.
Our waitress said she had a violent hangover which caused a chuckle out of us.
The food was very comforting.
Get the pizza!

I thought DEE-TRIOT style pizza was just what they called a Sicilian pizza (like the Detroit Coney dogs that are just chili dogs). To top it off, I even had a Detroit style pizza at another place that confirmed all my suspicions. TERRIBLE!
Enter my coworker, a Detroit native who stepped in to put me straight. She recommended Loui’s and told me that straight up this was THE BEST Detroit Style Pizza place. I took her up on it and BAM! This pizza is great. It’s got cheese and toppings and the sauce is fresh and tasty, but it’s that crust that makes it. Thick crust (which I usually DESPISE), but it’s super crispy all around. Like BIG CRISPY juxtaposed against soft chew and that texture combo is a knockout.

Really good pizza. Some of the best crust you’ll ever have. The BBQ chicken pizza was phenomenal. Small is 4 pieces , and each piece is big! If you order too much you’ll definitely have leftovers (a good thing!). Prices are reasonable for what you get. Our server was really nice. Only 1 unisex bathroom.
Parking lot attached. Very busy Saturday night. There was also free street parking. When you get there you need to put your name in at the entrance and wait outside until they text you.
