We had a great experience overall. The Grilled Shrimp, Octopus & Garlic Sausage with Cannellini Beans & Citrus Bagna Cauda was excellent—well balanced, flavorful, and one of the highlights of the meal. The yellow snapper (fresh catch) was also very well prepared.
The Crab Cake with Sweet Corn Guacamole & Charred Jalapeño Aioli was average compared to the other dishes. The key lime pie was a solid 4.5/5 and a nice way to end dinner.
The service was great, attentive and professional. A good Key West spot, especially if you focus on the seafood and fresh catch.

We had a truly wonderful experience! Our food was amazing, and our waitress Myrna was so helpful and friendly too. Worth every penny. Steak was perfectly cooked as was the swordfish. Try the conch chowder and butter lettuce salad with pecans, apples and blue cheese!

I went to the Cafe at Louie’s backyard last night. It is a separate establishment from the regular Louie’s and is located upstairs with a completely different menu. It was awesome. There were 4 of us and everyone ordered something different and was happy, the cocktails were creative and great. They were super busy when we got there and brought us a basket of truffle fries without being asked while we had our 1st cocktail. I had the short ribs and there were quite honestly the best short ribs I have ever had, thank you Chef Brandon. Our server Blondie was fabulous. Though, we didnt sit in them there are special seats on the patio which looked pretty cool and overlook the ocean. It was truly an awesome experience…one final thing the meals were small plates and very reasonably priced. The picture is of my short ribs

Louie’s Backyard – A Slice of Paradise in Key West
Nestled right on the edge of the ocean, Louie’s Backyard offers one of the most breathtaking dining experiences in Key West. Whether you’re looking for a romantic evening or a refined meal with friends, this spot delivers on every front.
The setting is simply stunning — think gentle sea breezes, the sound of waves lapping nearby, and sunsets that paint the sky in unforgettable hues.
The menu is thoughtfully curated, but the standout for me was the lobster chowder starter — rich, velvety, and absolutely to die for.
Service is warm and attentive without being overbearing, and the ambiance strikes a perfect balance between upscale and relaxed island charm.
If you’re in Key West and looking for a memorable dining experience, Louie’s Backyard is a must. Come for the food, stay for the view — and don’t forget to catch the sunset.

If you’re looking for an upscale dinner atmosphere while in Key West, this is a great option. Absolutely gorgeous sunset views over the Atlantic, some of the best service we had any restaurant. Wish I remember her name, but she was quick and attentive. The food was expensive, but honestly everything was expensive, so for the quality of the food, atmosphere, and service I felt like we got what we payed for. There’s an additional bar a level down from the dining area right on the water. I wish we would have made it over there at some other point during the week for drinks, and we left far too full to get any after dinner.
We visited the keys the last week of September and the island was noticeably not crowded but I could see reservations here being a must during the busy season.

We went without reservations and the host downstairs recommended we try the Cafe upstairs. We sat outside on the balcony with an incredible sunset view and very private table. Our waitress was fantastic and had a great attitude and enthusiasm about the food and chef. We tried all her recommendations and none of them fell short. The drinks were amazing as well. We will for sure be back!

We had a really excellent dinner here as a family tonight. We booked the 5pm dinner seating and were sat at a lovely corner inside table with a beautiful view of the water and sunset. Sasha was a kind and attentive server. We really enjoyed the lobster starter and then the Mahi special, swordfish and salmon entrees. All had an excellent sear and were very flavorful. The swordfish was probably our favorite though we loved all of them. Of course, key lime pie for dessert, which was also super. Overall, a really enjoyable and memorable dinner for our first visit to Key West. So happy to have found Louis’s and would highly recommend!

This was a highly recommended spot and a friend also recommended so we tried it out. So glad we did. It is such a cute atmosphere right on the water with delicious food and beautiful views. I had the Pita Crusted King Salmon with Creamy Feta Cheese Sauce & Herbed Orzo Pasta and my husband had the Grilled Swordfish with Fried Risotto, Pancetta Cream & Preserved Lemon Gremolata. I had the Sand Key Sipper cocktail which was just perfect and not sweet at all, which I enjoy. We also had the key lime pie. It was a bit tart, but good. Definitely would return here for another meal.

We have visited Key West from CT 4 times over many years and Louie’s is always a must. It has yet to disappoint us. Consistently top notch service and food. And the views off the back porch are just lovely. One suggestion if you visit in January (we hit a cold spell with temp in the 60s). Dress warmly! There were no heaters where we sat and it was chilly, even for us New Englanders!

Louie’s is an iconic spot in Key West. Situated right on the ocean with access to a small beach, have drinks on the beautiful deck under the hanging palm trees. The deck bar drinks are poured well and served fresh. We enjoyed a green salad and snapper sandwich which were delicious.
