Definitely felt authentic Chicago and this is authentic Tavern style with exception. I could open the box. One bite everybody knows the rules.

Louie’s Pizza in Dallas, Texas – Chicago-style Thin Crust – Facebook

It’s a proper Chicago tavern that happens to sell really good pizza. They open at 5:30pm and there is usually a line of people waiting for them to open.

Louie’s is a fantastic old school bar/restaurant with a following like no other. Casey and John behind the bar for 20-something years are a testament to Louie’s greatness. For a dive place like this, the food to outsiders is surprisingly excellent! It is known for arguably the BEST pizza in all of Dallas, but we also love the Souvlaki, Pork Chop, Grilled Chicken as well as the Lamb Chops and Ribeye.

Louie’s is not a large place and there can be wait times during the peak hours to get a table or a seat at the bar, so if you’re going during these hours or days, it might take a few minutes to get a place to sit…but typically, something will open up in a reasonable amount of time.

The overall atmosphere is a hometown friendly place to go.

Some of the best pizza I’ve had anywhere in North America. The cocktails are very generous. If you don’t like service with an attitude, then don’t go here. They can back up the attitude with the AMAZING food.
I’ll be back!!
P.S The sign is on the ground from a storm, but they are open!!

This is the FUN place to dine for exceptional food and not just pizza. The atmosphere is a bit loud but it’s a dive! My food was perfect! The martini excellent. Lip Smacking Good!

Why the hell would anyone pay to be treated poorly? We have lived in East Dallas for eight years and never been to Louie’s but our best friends loved the place and asked us to join them. The place was packed, and the hostess was honest and told us it would be over an hour as she advised us to go across the street for a drink. After an hour, we we were able to get a table, and the place was starting to empty out, so you’d think the service would be decent. But no, drinks were slow to come and food even slower. After about 45 minutes, our pizza was delivered, but when we asked about our sandwiches, we were told they were “on their way.” The burger and chicken sandwich arrived cold and not the way we ordered. Waitress was AWOL so I got up and said something to an employee going into the kitchen only to be told he wasn’t our server. Could’ve just ended there, but the hostess and the waitress over heard me saying something to my husband and friends, and decided to be vocal about me to other tables in the restaurant. Final straw. I am not going to sit quietly while a rude hostess and an admittedly hung over waitress taunt paying customers. We happily support locally owned businesses in East Dallas and will often give second and third chances after subpar food experiences because we know it can happen, but I will NEVER return to Louie’s. Any business who has employees who act like this are obviously part of a culture that condones this kind of behavior.

Had to wait about 25 minutes on a Sunday, so plan ahead. The brick walls and dim lighting feels very Chicago. Add in all the Chicago sports memorabilia and you’d think you were back home. I ordered a medium with 4 toppings. Which was just enough for a hungry man appetite. The pizza was a great take on Chicago tavern style with a slightly thicker but light brick oven type pizza and a sweeter sauce. It was Very good. My only gripe is that my water glass was empty for long periods of time more than once but when I looked around, no one with a cocktail or beer had an empty glass. Still a good meal though.

I used to go to Louie’s in the late 80’s, but I never realized they served food, my friends and I just went for drinks, lol.
So Saturday night I was invited for dinner and let me just say it was all so delicious. I loved their Ceasar Salad, Pepperoni Pizza and their Shrimp Scampi. Their Red Wine was good too. We had a 20 minute wait but we’ll worth it. Not a place if you like nice and quiet more for a fun loud dinning experience. Our waitress was very nice and attentive even though she was very busy. I most definitely will go back.

We saw Louie’s on Diners, Drive-ins & Dives. We have family from Waukegan, IL so we had to try it out. I had a pizza & my husband had the meatball sandwich. We were not disappointed. The meatball sandwich had great flavor. The Meatballs were not dry. The sauce & cheese combination was really well done. I had a hamburger, onion & bacon pizza on their thin crust. It was absolutely killer. They know how to make a pizza. The crust was thin, flaky & done just right. The sauce was unlike a pizza sauce I’ve had before. It was a mild tomato flavor & not overpowering in the slightest. Absolutely recommend their food. My only criticism is they could use more parking.

My family and I have been regulars here, but after this visit we will never return. The hostess was rude from the moment we walked in, rolling her eyes and snidely questioning our age, implying we didn’t belong there. She has been notorious for being nasty to customers, but we decided to let it go in the past because we enjoyed the food. However, this time was the last. We do not tolerate being harassed by staff.

We were told by our waitress from the start that our pizza would take 30 to 45 minutes, but after waiting over an hour and a half we still had no food except for two cold entrees we asked the come out with the rest of the food that we didn’t touch. When my family member politely and respectfully asked why our pizza was taking so long, especially while other tables, including what appeared to be family members of the owner, were being served first despite coming 30 to 45 minutes after us, the waitress immediately started cussing and taunting us. The waitress was miserable and extremely unprofessional for cussing at customers for questioning why the food was taking nearly two hours to come out. She continued her behavior even following us and harassing us outside into the parking lot, yelling and using foul language because we decided to go elsewhere and refused to pay for food we never received.

The manager did nothing to resolve the situation and was equally unprofessional, escalating the conflict instead of addressing it. We have always paid for our meals, but in this case they did not deserve our money. The staff from start to finish was miserable, and none of them deserve to be in the service industry. They were entirely in the wrong, and this restaurant has serious management and staff issues. Please trust the other negative reviews and do not support this place.

Louie’s has been in Dallas for decades! I always try and find spots in Dallas that have been around a while and try them. It was packed 20 minutes after opening, so get there early. The pizza was wonderful, cut into squares. I loved the atmosphere of the whole place, definitely want to go back again!

Made it through to Louie’s and had a last. Classic bar style pizza. Gotta come through and order a martini while you’re here. If you like thin crust tavern style pies with a no frills vibe then this is your spot. @bobspizzatour.
