We hadn’t been to Monterey in a while, and we chose Louie Linguini’s, and we were glad we did, even among all the Cannery Row eating choices.
Even on a Saturday night we were seated quickly and the service and attention by our server Matthew was flawless and very quick. We opted for a plate of fried calamari to start, and unlike some eateries we got both the tubes and the tentacles! — others give you only the latter.
We enjoyed our cocktails — the Pomegranate Cosmo and the Louie’s Island (with a little bit of everything).
My companions enjoyed their Seafood Saute (with the shellfish), the Sicilian Seafood Linguini (with the spicy tomato sauce) and I thought my Blackened Rock Cod (with rice and capers) was terrific — better than many versions in which the fish’s seasoning lacks a little tang. This had it.
The atmosphere seems to be a combination of an Italian-style Rat Pack vibe and the old-school Monterey fishing tradition. We loved it and are already planning our next visit.

I can’t say enough nice things about this restaurant. The staff are helpful and kind, and very accommodating for families with special needs. The food is simply outstanding, on every level. Prices are very fair, portions are huge, ingredients are fresh, and the waitstaff are friendly and patient. I highly recommend the outdoor seating, if weather permits. The view is unmatched, and there is nothing quite as relaxing as enjoying gourmet seafood with waves, sea lions, and fog horns for background sound. 5 out of 5 stars. We will absolutely be back!

I have a variety of thoughts about Louie Linguini’s. Let’s start with the location and atmosphere. It’s situated in the perfect spot to overlook the water and cannery area. They have mostly indoor seating and a tiny bit of outdoor seating when you first walk up the stairs on the deck. It’s very shady here but it’s OK. You may wanna bring a long sleeve on a breezy day.

The food is average at best. Most of the folks in my party had fish and chips and fried calamari. But we also tried the Alfredo linguine and seafood linguine. The fish and chips were not what I expected from this area. Just not super high-quality or special in any particular way. Lots of small pieces as opposed to a few large pieces. I question that.

The seafood linguine on the other hand was quite good. And the calamari was basic calamari, I don’t think fresh.

What is cool, is that they have a dog menu. So that’s nice since many of the visitors, including us, have dogs.

Service was pretty spotty I’d say. I think it’s because you’re outside and they just don’t go out there as much.

Old school charm, good food and great views. A family friendly spot overlooking the bay and a beach below. Big menu and many daily specials should satisfy picky eaters. Outdoor seating give great views. Many pasta, pizza and fish options. Had the rock cod fish tacos which were ample and fresh. Large portions. The CA beer sampler is a fun choice.

Amazing fresh sea food. I had cod fish and rice with vegetables. My colleague had clam chowder and some plate with fresh crab. Service was also amazing. We sat outside in the balcony and watched the breathtaking view. Will be back again for sure.

The food was awesome, served fast and hot, all the staff were very friendly, the restaurant was roomy and lots of windows for viewing and sunlight, and close to the aquarium! Their clam chowder bowl was awesome and must have for anyone visiting! Best of all I’ll repeat that the prices are very reasonable for the food portion and flavor!

Today, we decided to treat ourselves to lunch, and what a delightful choice it was! Our table had a stunning view that made the experience even more enjoyable. Kim, our server, was a breath of fresh air—so friendly and attentive! I couldn’t resist ordering the Shrimp Aurora, which was simply divine. My granddaughters opted for a trio of delicious options: garlic fries, a Caesar salad, and heavenly garlic bread. Each bite was a delight, and together, we created a wonderful memory over a fantastic meal. What a lovely way to spend the day!

We were riding on the bike trail and decided to stop here for dinner. Very nice views, there is some outdoor seating with even better views. We got seated immediately. The food was delicious, but our server was quite flat. Overall good experience!
I got the lobster ravioli with salmon special, very delicious. The garlic bread was $8 and not that special, I wouldn’t get it again.

We had an incredible experience at Louie Linguini’s in Monterey Bay! The food was top-notch— I ordered the garlic fries, my wife enjoyed the lobster ravioli and the blackened salmon with prawns (an absolute must-try), and our guest raved about the bread bowl and fish & chips. Everything was cooked perfectly and full of flavor.

The service was just as amazing as the food—friendly, attentive, and welcoming. What really impressed us, though, was how dog-friendly this place is. They brought out a mat and water for our pup, and we even ordered him a 6 oz grilled salmon served over wild rice with fresh diced carrots from their dedicated dog menu (something every restaurant should have!).

Between the delicious food, outstanding service, and the extra love shown to our dog, Louie Linguini’s truly exceeded expectations. Definitely a Monterey gem we’ll be coming back to!
