Greeted by host immediately and sat down. Service was quick and attentive and the atmosphere was nice.
Ordered the muffuletta sandwich and the black bean/sausage soup from a friends recommendation and it looked good when it arrived. Soup was delicious. As for the sandwich the Focaccia was good but the provolone cheese was so thick and the salami meat was way overcooked while the olive salad bland. Was a shame because I think this could be an amazing sandwich with some tweaks! Maybe a different olive and some lemon-based vinaigrette just my opinion! (My friend ordered the Hot Brown and enjoyed it!)
Would return to try another dish!
Quiet atmosphere inside. Friendly staff. Food was ready on time. Ordered a deep dish pizza. Sauce is a bit tangier than I like but it was still a good pizza. Fresh, hot, made exactly as ordered. Crust was crispy.
The only thing Cajun/Louisiana about this place is the decor and naming of the dish. This place is for people who have never tried Cajun food.
We ordered the Chicago deep dish with meatballs, mushrooms and feta. We go expecting to wait 30 minutes for this too cook. Waiter even says it takes a long time. So we order an app and the Cajun sampler(gumbo, jambalaya and etoufee). The pizza came out in less than 15 minutes. We weren’t even at the restaurant 30min and mind you it took about 10min for the waiter to even come over and great us and take our order. This deep dish isn’t deep, has almost no toppings. You can eat it with your hands the crust is hard and has weird burned taste to it. Cannot recommend this dish at all. Save your $30+ and buy dominos.
The sampler of gumbo, jambalaya and etoufee is just a disgrace. It’s 3 weird soups that come out with a big side of brown rice. They taste alright. Chef clearly is scared of salt and spicy and doesn’t know how to make a roux. Have they ever gone to Louisiana? Let’s go next Mardi Gras. Lol my family will show you all around the amazing spots.
Aside from that the service was mehh. We waited a long time just to see a waiter. He had a very large group. We really needed a different waiter that wasn’t so overloaded.
If you are looking for a place that sacrifices authenticity of the culture they’re supposedly inspired by and love unsalted slop then this place is for you.
My husband had his favorite- shrimp and grits! We were recently in Florida and the shrimp and grits there were greasy and not as creamy. Lou Lou’s shrimp and grits are the best, absolutely delicious.
