My wife and I were in Highlands for the weekend and gave this place a shot. My only regret in life is not living closer. Everything was exceptional. The salsa was some of the best I have eaten, and I’d like to think I’ve eaten at A LOT of Mexican restaurants in my life. The queso was delicious, as were our entrees. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Great place to eat and fast service! We sat outside and had lunch! Very reasonable prices and yummy food. I ordered 2 chicken Mexican tacos and it came with an avocado spicy sauce which was amazing!

Busy, fast, yummy. Love the warm chips and thick salsa. I had the chimichanga. I gave four stars because I would have liked the more crispy. But otherwise very good. Oh, and even though they were busy on Friday night, we were sat quickly.

So excited to have Los Vaqueros right down the road from us here in Sapphire., NC We did take out tonight and it was amazing. My husband had the Steak Chimichanga with rice and beans, I had 2 soft beef tacos with rice and beans. Both were absolutely delicious!!! The food is not bad, but this is not an authentic Mexican restaurant. The margaritas have very little tequila. You can barely taste it. I ordered shrimp ceviche. The shrimp was over cooked.

I have been to Los Vaqueros 4 times now, and each dinner has been fantastic. From the lovely views of Lake Toxaway falls, to the splendid service and delicious food, this is a must stop if you’re in the area. Some of the best Mexican I’ve ever had. Their queso is splendid, as is their salsas. My chimichanga tonight was well seasoned and crispy, and the accompanying queso and salsa just sent it over the top.
