I dined at Los Rancheros in Litchfield and ordered the steak and chicken fajitas based on the menu description and accompanying photo.
The dish served to me was materially different from what was advertised. The plate consisted primarily of green peppers and onions, with very small and minimal portions of steak and chicken, neither in quantity nor presentation resembling what is shown on the menu. The steak pieces provided were especially small and sparse.
I requested to speak with a manager, but no manager was present at the time. I raised my concern with the server, who stated that the menu image was “just advertising.” That explanation is not acceptable, as menu representations are intended to accurately reflect what customers are purchasing.
This constitutes misleading advertising. I am posting a photo of the actual dish served so that others may compare it directly with the menu representation.
This issue needs to be corrected. If this misleading presentation continues, I will forward a formal complaint to the Illinois Attorney General’s Consumer Fraud Bureau under the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act.

The hostess was pleasant and able to get us a table but the service stopped there. The place want horribly busy as was a bit later. Our table service was really bad. We sat down as table of 10 and got 2 small chips and salsa for one end of table. Asked 2x for more and still nothing. Drinks seemed to take a long time to come from bar despite only a few of us at table drinking. We ordered queso right away and the 2 bowls came out yet we still had no chips. Asked again as it got cold only to have to get up and go track someone down. Finally got chips for our cold queso. The food came out fairly quick and was decent. The portion sizes are very big so decent value. They definitely need to work on the service.

Service was quick and considerate. I ordered a margarita and a water was brought without having to ask. Plenty of napkins were also brought. I’m not a terribly messy person, but it’s nice to not have to ask for things. Excellent. I was just passing through, but if I’m in town again, I will definitely stop.

I took my girlfriend to dinner,ordered the steak and fries,she ordered a borrito,steak was a bit overcooked and came with a handful of fries,steak was maybe 6 ounces at best. The borrito was pretty basic,mostly rice.
2 sodas,the borrito ,steak and fries,queso sauce ($7) for some moisture on the borrito since it came dry. Check came ($86.57). Probably was a $30-$35 meal and yes I did leave a tip since the waitress was doing her job.So I dropped $100 on a meal that wasn’t as good as a burger and fries.

We’re not even finished eating I just had to leave a review. At a glance from outside we weren’t expecting much but boy do they have fantastic fajitas. Everything packed a punch of flavor even the guacamole, salsa, & margarita – jumbo margarita might I add. We’re picky about Mexican food especially the salsa and guacamole but they have it down. Our service was great as well. They brought us everything we asked for in a very timely manner. Hats off to you, Los Rancheros – if we’re ever in the area again we will definitely be back!

A well-lit restaurant, it had a cheery, upbeat atmosphere. I went with my family and was pleased with the facility and the service.
The chips and salsa were good for starters, and my taco salad fajita was very good. The chicken and grilled vegetables were cooked just right.
I definitely will be back.

Wonderful first time experience! Atmosphere was light, fun, and relaxing. Staff was super nice. Our waitress was on top of everything. We never ran out of drinks, napkins, or anything else we asked for. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Of all the Mexican restaurants around the area, this 1 is my favorite. The food had lots of flavor, I had chicken n rice w queso. I did a carry out this x. I usually eat in there. Atmosphere is a typical restaurant for around here, usually pretty busy the xs I’ve been here. I’ve always thought the service n staff were friendly and on point. The prices are average for around here. I’d def eat here again. Good food for good price!!

It’s tough to write about food this good without using too many superlatives. I will just just say the ingredient quality is evident, the textures and flavors are all right there no holds barred. See the special burrito of the day here and chips and salsa picosa with a blend of mostly unsweetened iced tea with just a little sweet tea and nieve frita (deep fried homemade breaded vanilla ice cream) to round things off. I won’t give any spoilers, just come see these friendly people and feast for yourself what wonders are to behold.
