We were coming to Santa Fe for a show and wanted to go somewhere different and local. After looking at reviews we chose Los Potrillos. We were not dissapointed. We we greeted and seated right away. All the staff were super friendly and very helpful. They checked on us often. Absolutely loved the atmosphere, but the FOOD!! Oh my goodness, it was wonderful. As a person with IC its often hard to find many options at restaurants. I had plenty to choose from. It was nice to find a new dish to try at a Mexican restaurant. The chicken with pecan cream sauce was amazing. My hurbands choice was Enchiladas de Colores. His taste has been off due to illness and this was the first meal he’d thoroughly enjoyed four weeks. We were both looking forward to trying a dessert, but the portions were massive, and they give complimentary chips with 2 salsas to start. I actually had to get a to go box. It definitely was a five star experience and we will come back here again so we can split a meal and try one of the desserts. Definitely recommend if in the area, and it is worth the drive.

Los potrillos hands down the best authentic Mexican food in Santa Fe. Probably in the entire state the food was delicious. The service was great. Great ambience. We were seated immediately. We were served within a few minutes. Everything was cooked to perfection. The seafood was fresh, the beef was tender. The vegetables were fantastic the Pico de Gallo had cactus and it was amazing. All the vegetables were fantastic. The rice was very good and tasted very authentic. They serve alcohol but we passed on it this time, but the tea was delicious. Wasn’t from a machine, it was made fresh not sure what brand they used. I should have asked. The tortillas were warmed on the grill, not in a microwave. That is a major plus for me.

Los Potrillos was our lunch stop during a vacation in Santa Fe, as we were craving some authentic Mexican food. The restaurant was clean and had a great atmosphere. They served the best beef fajitas I’ve ever had. If I lived in the area, I’d definitely be a regular guest.”

As soon as I walked in I could tell this place was going to be interesting. The theme inside is horses. They have some incredible horse murals on the walls, wooden chairs with carved horses, and saddles. The menu is quite extensive and has a nice selection to choose from. We ordered the mole plate, four taco plate, shrimp soup, and Caldo de Res. Portions were huge and the quality and flavors were amazing. Service was excellent. Easy review… five stars for sure.

The food at this place is simply delicious; I have no complaints. The service is excellent; the waitress is very skilled. The restaurant’s atmosphere is fantastic, reminiscent of the Mexican Wild West. If you venture to this restaurant, you won’t regret it; you’ll leave completely satisfied.

I think I’m in love. I went here on accident the first time, thought it looked unassuming on the outside—their sign is easy to miss. But I fell head over heels in love with their flavorful food, and promptly brought family back to try more. We wanted to make our way through their entire menu but didn’t have time on this visit. We were impressed with everything. Everything was generous—the flavor, the portion, the seasoning, the deliciousness, the nutrition, the atmosphere, the nice people working there. Wow!!!!!

Large menu with creative choices. Service was fantastic. I had to try their version of Chiles en Nogada which was the best I’ve had. They had a large choice of Mexican beer. Couldn’t have been better and was reasonably priced.

We came in on a rainy day after Meow Wolf, and it was so cozy, and the food was so homey. Service was excellent. My husband got the Gorditas Zacatecas and I got the Tamal de Cazuela. Both were delicious. The Tamal was to die for. Creamy, filling and comforting.
I ordered the piña aquas frescas and it was so delicious. Highly recommend this place!!

We ate here on a snowy Thursday evening. All of our meals were delicious. They accommodated one of my very picky eaters and I’m so grateful for that. Our servers were very attentive and the food came out very fast. The fajitas were some of the best we’ve had. The tortillas, chips & salsa were all fresh as well. We will definitely return when we come back to Santa Fe.
