We followed a review on Google Maps and let me tell you. This is one of the best Mexican Restaurants I’ve visited throughout the country. The name is “Los Portales” and as the name says as soon as you walk through one of those portals you get transported to a beautiful area in Mexico. Everything inside is beautifully decorated so it creates a wonderful atmosphere. The food is authentic Mexican food with fantastic taste. The service is also great and to my surprise the pricing is also very affordable plus the portions are big. I had a great experience and will recommend it to all my friends that are driving through Jackson.

Omar is the best waiter!! He really goes above and beyond . My family came one day with our 3 daughters, one of them being a toddler. We always order a side of beans for her and bring our own spoon to use for her. On this particular day we came in, by accident we forgot her spoon at the restaurant without even noticing.
The next time we came in, Omar had noticed our family and to our surprise he brought us our baby spoon back!!!

The newer location is nice, mighty nice. I am glad they brought the old cooks with them to the new location. I’ll be extremely happy when they go get the good attitudes & great service out of storage. They could really use it, the only one with a smile is the bartender. He is the former “bestest” waiter from the old location. Unfortunately someone also forgot to pack up the free drink refills & bring them to the new spot also. (See pics) The building is extremely well decorated with one of a kind “eye catching” items. Bright colors, lots of room & neon lighting in just the right spots makes for a new experience everytime you get a different seat. So, much detail in the decor, matched by the best food, freshest salsa & we won’t get started on the cheese dip…. nope I will not go there, just try it, you will not regret it. I gave a 4 star review solely on the fact I had traveled for years & never found a restaurant with such good food, peaceful atmosphere, or more courteous & appreciative employees. So for still maintaining 2 out of 3 of the pillars this restaurant was founded on, I gave 3 stars. I gave 1 more for the awesome water fall/artsy/type like thing in front of the restaurant. But when i saw the refills were no longer free, the rude staff & longer wait times for food. Its just not worth the trip anymore. So, I took 1 back & used it to help pay for a soda refill. They have great food, you will love the decor of the building & you will hate the service staff’s attitudes, as you wait for your $2 refill.

This restaurant is beautiful! The food is great and the service is wonderful. The atmosphere is causal and laid back. You will not get bored with your surroundings! Even the ladies bathroom was gorgeous! I loved everything about this place!

Simple but tasty Quesadilla Rellena with almost too many onions, melty cheese, and nicely grilled and seasoned mushrooms. Along with a Guacamole Salad with ChoriQueso that left my palate unsatisfied and wishing for more chorizo. The accompanying tortilla chips however are crispy and not oily and the service was excellent with a Margarita that is well constructed and actually has a good kick to it. Love the atmosphere! It’s colorful and vibrant and radiates good energy. Even the Hostess up from did an amazing job.

Great food and service here. The best Mexican restaurant around for a while! However, there was an idiot at this visit whom backed their truck in with a long hitch mostly blocking the sidewalk. I know it had firefighter plates, but that doesn’t excuse the ignorance.
