I once in a while visit this location, and it normally does not disappoint. But today I had the menudo, and it was not how it is normally served. Today it was greasy, a bit on the salty side, and very little of tripe and hominy. It was disappointment.

First time coming! Very pleasant, servers was very respectful and kind, food was seasoned wonderfully, I had the chicken enchiladas one red and one green sauce with rice and beans, hubby had the two carne asada tacos plate, warm chips and salsa was amazing as well…. I will recommend, and will be coming back soon.

We went for breakfast/brunch. The place is casual sit down. The chilaquiles are not my style. Not sure which part of Mexico makes them with enchilada sauce. I had to add salsa and onions. The asada was mediocre. Just not my style. They have good micheladas.Chips and salsa were good and fresh.

I have been here several times. Food ok. Better than the other location. They can be slow. What i experience today was uncalled for. Went to have lunch my b’day turning 70th. Went on they booths are full. Stated I would wait. They waitress clear a seat at the door fir ne to sit. Walking by smiling while waiting two different parties get seated. Ask for manager, she comes to say oh she doesn’t ? speak English and probably didn’t understand. Really! That not a good. You may not care about this one person not returning. If she not able to understand maybe someone else should seat your guest. Bad business etc. I do understand we all need to work. You have to do better even the manager to act like it’s nothing. You could have messed up my hole day.

I was excited thinking it was going to be a good solid authentic Mexican restaurant… And it honestly has nothing authentic. The food has no flavor whatsoever and quite frankly pricy for what they serve .. I mean don’t get me wrong I’m willing to pay for good food but not no flavorless food.
Sadly I won’t be eating here again..

Delicious authentic mexican food. Friendly & efficient staff. Quick service. Clean restaurant. Got a table right away. Restaurant was half full. Prices are affordable $-$$ per person &/or meals & appetizers quantity are large enough for 2 people to share.

I was so excited to come to Los Portales after a year, and unfortunately, it was a far cry from the enjoyable eating experiences I’ve had in the past. We opted for the fajitas for two, which turned out to be a major letdown. The portion of chicken and carne asada was minimal, the plate was filled with grilled bell peppers and onions, hardly any protein. The beans were plain with no flavor. I can’t believe they skimp on the protein when you’re paying $33.95 for a plate. That’s just not right.
The service was slow, and the seating situation only added to our frustration. We were crammed into a tiny table, with no one attending to clear our table. As a result, there was little space for all our plates, forcing us to stack empty ones on the table behind us. It was not a good situation. My husband and I were really hungry so we made the best of it. After this bad experience, we will not be coming back to Los Portales. The food and service are not what it use to be.

I really wanted to like this place more than I did. The food wasn’t bad, but also was missing or lacking just something to make it great. The shrimp cocktail had lots of flavor and was definitely the highlight of the meal. The Chile Colorado was not the best I’ve tasted. There were definitely some issues with the steak, several bites were tough to chew and gristle-ish. The sauce was thick and starchy. I did enjoy the homemade tortillas.
I’m not going to complain about the service, it is what it is these days. However I will say that if you want to try it, maybe takeout? It just was off (for me). They did have a bar with TVs and the dining room booths were private which was nice for a quiet dinner setting.

The food is great! , But I came here for breakfast and I’m not sure if there is a big turnover on waiters or waitress, but I don’t think the service is good at all anymore. I always have wait too long to be seated and served to even get water! And it’s practically empty. A staff brings chips and salsa and then say somebody else give you your drinks. Hmmm I’m eating salty chips I’m going to need water, that should be the first thing to bring! I don’t like the service. But I love the food, so I keep going back. Maybe they need hire friendly waitresses. I see there are some guys that service chips and salsa, I think they should be waiters they are super nice!!!!!!!!
Don’t get me wrong it’s not all waitresses! Just one! I feel customer service 101 needed. I think the staff doesn’t look happy. If the first face I see doesn’t say hello or greet me, and ignores me, not good customer service! Things changed drastically!
But if you love good Mexican food, go here!!!!!!! It’s yummy! Awesome food! My mom got the pozole with all the fixings, yummy! I got Chorizo dish, which is yummy, love it! I forgot to take a picture…
