Love at first salsa – for real. I had their salsa at their previous location and it’s forever been a favorite. Love Francisco and the good food they dish out. Have taken a ton of folks here over the years. Got to have the Carnitas….so good.

Am at the point where hearing the word Torta any time within the lunchtime window triggers me like a sleeper agent and I find myself driving down Summer in an almost hypnotized state to get the $10.99 torta de carnitas here. Don’t know how good the other food is. Never ordered it. Torta de carnitas with whatever homemade salsa they’ve got that day, dipping the whole sandwich in it like I’m eating a French dip with au jus. Bread so soft. Carnitas so tender. Salsa so smoky. Torta de carnitas…..

Pictured here is just half of the burrito I got at Los Picosos. My friend got barbacoa and a total. They cook the meat outside, and the whole parking lot smells delicious. I can’t say much about the inside, since I ordered carryout. But the food was fabulous! $40 for three people (that included a whole pound of barbacoa)

This place is a hidden gem. The decor is atrocious but the guacamole is by far the freshest and best I have ever had. Tacos are on point. All around food yum.

Come for the food, leave the service behind though. They serve delicious generously portioned authentic Mexican food. The green salsa served with the chips is amazing, but hot. I had to stop myself from eating it so I would enjoy my torta cubana. Service left lots to be desired though. Our waitress seemed more concerned with sitting down to snacks with her co-workers than bringing us the right drinks, refills, or the check. Hopefully they will train their wait staff up to the level of their food.

Los Picosos is a pretty good spot for Mexican food. Friendly staff, lots of authentic menu options, and very reasonably priced. They close early so this is best for lunch or early dinner. I did not really like their guacamole, it was bland. The al Pastor and barbaquoa are both excellent.

Wouldn’t recommend, saw the reviews.. said ok I’ll try it.. price is reasonable.. food was inedible to me. Eggs tasted funny, ham tasted funny.. beans were watery, rice was too salty and a little mushy.. waffle was hard as hell… breakfast menu very small, it’s better breakfast spots in Memphis.. it’s not that serious. I literally ate half the waffle and left the whole plate like that.
