The soups are great. Try the Carnes en su jugo offered everyday or the Pozole Rojo on the weekends.
From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by the owners themselves and you can feel the love immediately. The restaurant is spotless, warm, and welcoming, and everything from the recipes to the service feels deeply intentional.
The food is WOW. This is hands-down the most authentic Mexican food in Chattanooga. Every dish is made with fresh ingredients, cooked in-house, and bursting with flavor you just don’t find anywhere else in the area. The slow-cooked beef birria is incredible, rich, tender, and packed with flavor. A must-order is the guacamole too!
But beware the chips. These are the holy grail of homemade chips. Crispy, addictive, and wildly dangerous in the best possible way. You will lose track of how many you’ve eaten, and you will be happy about it.
As if the food wasn’t enough, everything is served on beautiful clay dishes, which somehow makes the whole experience feel even more special, like you’re being welcomed into someone’s home rather than just grabbing a meal.
Los Mich is where exceptional food, family values, and genuine hospitality come together. Once you eat here, everywhere else just kind of pales in comparison.
Didn’t love: The burrito my fiancé ordered was pretty small, and when I asked if they could put the queso on the side rather than on top of the burrito, they said no, that they would have to charge it as a side. The tinga was just alright!
Upon entering, the ambiance is delightful, tidy, and inviting. There is a wide selection of delicious food options. The server was friendly, considerate, and very accommodating. I visited with a friend, and we stayed for two hours due to the lovely atmosphere. I’m eager to return and sample more dishes from the menu.
We ordered a variety of dishes so everyone could try something different. The pollo loco was flavorful and cooked perfectly, with tender chicken and a great balance of spices. The quesadillas were a big hit with the family as well — warm, cheesy, and satisfying.
The real standout, though, was their quesabirria, which they proudly list as their specialty. It completely lived up to the hype. The meat was rich and incredibly tender, the tortillas were perfectly crisped, and dipping them into the consommé took the flavor to another level. It was easily the highlight of the meal.
We also loved the chips and guacamole. The chips were fresh and crunchy, and the guacamole tasted bright and homemade with great seasoning. The only small thing we would have changed was the salsa — it had good flavor, but we personally prefer a slightly thicker style. That said, it didn’t take away from the overall experience at all.
Overall, it was a wonderful meal with something for everyone in our family. Great food, generous portions, and a welcoming atmosphere make this a spot we’d happily recommend to anyone looking for excellent Mexican cuisine.
Review #2: Been here with my wife about 3 more times since the first review. Tried most of their items on the menu. Everything is delicious and authentic. Do try their Conchitas, they’re addictive.
