the BEST food truck in town. i got a suadero taco, steak tacos, and lengua taco, all mexican style. they were all absolutely amazing — the meat is super juicy with a charred grill flavor, and goes so well with the salsas which are spicy, fresh, and flavorful. it was my first time trying lengua (beef tongue) and i will definitely be getting it again. it was the most tender, melt in your mouth beef i’ve ever had! the tacos came with grilled onion, a whole grilled jalapeño, radish, and several lime wedges on the side. really nice service too, and there are several tables to eat outside if you want. i highly recommend!

The service is really fast and they are so nice to their customers. I definitely would not mind the wait if they are really busy because the food is so good and worth the wait. The price for tacos here are also great compared to other taco trucks I have been too.

Excellent tacos. You have to order, then wait for about 10 min in your car and go back to check. So not as simple as the Palomas truck, where they give you a beeper. Even so, I’ll go back again and again. The truck’s in the parking lot of a strip mall on Bloomington Rd off Prospect so the location isn’t exactly oozing delightful scenery but the tacos make up for that.

This is a food truck. Excellent quality of food. Good size portions. Very friendly staff. It was a very busy lunchtime crowd so we had quite a wait, but they were hustling and friendly and on task. Nothing was mixed up . Great experience.

This is the easiest 5 star I’ve given the Birria is awesome but even better dressed up with green and red sauce. However the star of the show is pastor tacos Mexican style. If you thinking about it.. do it.. can’t wait to come back.

The Al pastor is sooooooooo gooooood. Good flavoring. The salsa roja is really good. All orders come with grilled cebolla and a chile toreado and radish. Quesabirria order comes with the broth. Very hot and with some meat pieces. Agua de Jamaica was really tasty.

I’ve been to quite a few taco food trucks in Champaign-Urbana and Los Hidalguense has the best tacos out of them all. They consistently have the most flavorful and juiciest proteins. However, skip the chicken because it’s super-dry like cardboard. Instead order the pork which comes with chunks of pineapple and the chorizo which is charred just to perfection. I think the tortillas are toasted on the grill too, so it comes out with a nice smoky aroma. I also love the nacho corn chips because they’re super thick and therefore don’t get soggy so easily.
Every week they have two specials of the day: “Taco Tuesdays” (4 tacos/$10) and “Quesabirria Thursdays” (3 tacos and a cup of consomé/$13). The quesabirria are made really well because it has a extra crispy layer on the outside. Follow them on Facebook for updates on any other rare specials.
