A no frills, authentic Dominican restaurant off the beaten path in Columbia Heights reminds me of the local bodega growing up. With so many options it can feel overwhelming but no matter what ends up on your plate, you can’t go wrong. Flavor, generous portion sizes( enough to take leftovers home and have a second meal) and a good price, make this a must stop if you’re in the area.

I was pleasantly surprised by this location. My friend had recommended this place and I was a little skeptical about going. However, customer service was amazing. Every staff member was friendly and attentive. The food was so good, I couldn’t put my fork down! I highly recommend.

What a gem of a spot. Heard about this place from a cheap eats page and it absolutely delivered. There isn’t a menu here – you pick two sides and a main course and it’s one flat (very affordable) price and you’re getting a butt ton of food.
I tried my Spanish but the employees responded back to me in English unfortunately – I guess I gotta work on my gringo accent. However, the awesome guy who sat at my table didn’t know English so I got to practice my very mid Spanish with him as I proceeded to be a big back and destroy the entire plate.

The food here was ok. I ordered via DoorDash so it could be slightly better, if I dined in. We tried the stewed chicken with rice/beans and plantains, pulled pork with yellow rice and yuca, as well as a beef and chicken empanada. My favorite was the beef empanada. The plantains were good. Everything else was just ok. Delivery was quick.
Overall 3.5/5

Great Dominican food and super hearty portions for $12-$16! The grilled chicken, yellow rice, and beans were incredible.

About ten years ago the food was delicious. But now it’s trash. The last three times the food was salty and over seasoned. Because I’m Dominican, I gave them another chance this evening (11/16/25). I spent $30 and I was very disappointed. Because it was $30, I forced myself to eat it. Hoping that it would get better. It was like a drug attic, who was chasing that first high and never got there.
Never again will I be returning.

Ok let me tell you something… this place may not be so pretty but it’s truly a home away from home type of vibe and it’s unmatched! Finding good carribean food and Dominican food isn’t so easy in my opinion out here in the city. However, this place hits the spot every time! The food is delicious. I’ve tried the pollo guisado, carne guisada, pernil, chicharron, arroz con gandules, and so much more! Every meal has been yummy. Sitting inside this place makes you feel like you back in back home. They got salsa a lot of Gilberto Santa Rosa jamming in the background and the rice be having reminiscing the times my grandmother was in the kitchen. If you haven’t tried this place yet do yourself a favor and give them a shot!
