One thing that always stands out here is the consistency. The service is fast every single time, even when they’re busy, and the staff are friendly, welcoming, and actually seem to care that you enjoy your meal. No attitude, no rushing you out the door — just good people doing a great job.
The food overall is excellent. Fresh ingredients, generous portions, and everything comes out hot and tasting like it should. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick bite or sitting down for a full meal, Los Amigos delivers dependable quality without breaking the bank.
If you’re in Platteville and want great tacos al pastor, fast service, and a place that feels comfortable and welcoming, this spot is absolutely worth checking out. Solid food, solid people, and a restaurant that clearly takes pride in what they do.
Treat yourself… go here!
Wrong. It’s always a warning of what’s to come when they bring out some chips and salsa. The warning signs were there. Canned tomato sauce with a sprinkling of cilantro. Medium-low quality chips. You can’t complain about free, but still, it was a heads up of what the food is going to be like. Lame.
I’ve had many similar experiences in more rural locations. I live in close to Chicago. Awesome mexican food is everywhere. The only ones that are actually lame, are the ones run by gringos. I wonder if a place like this takes a look at me, takes my order, and goes back to the cook and says: One Fajita burrito and make it tasteless and spiceless. I just can’t believe the people that work there cook this way for themselves. I’m really starting to believe that some restaurants, especially in rural locations where people maybe have less exposure to ethnic cusine, make it different for the locals. Special gringo versions.
I was in a different rural location a couple weeks ago. Ordered chicken tacos. By default, they came out on crunchy shells with lettuce, tomato and shredded cheddar. Classic tacos your mom would make. There was hardly any place to eat, so I went back the next day. Ordered chicken tacos with soft corn tortillas and cilantro and onoins. Got a totally different animal, and the brought out a couple of freshly made salsas. I’m like… They were profiling me yesterday.
Anyhow, if you are looking for some tasteless food just like your midwestern mom used to make when you were a kid, this is an excellent place to go.
Edit: I looked at the other reviews, and to their credit, it does look like the owners do look at the reviews and take them seriously. Some people love it here. They must be doing something right. This is based on just one persons experience on a single visit, but I stand by what I said. The cheese was also on the edge of going bad. Not quite there, but it was on the edge. I’m very familiar with the taste. I’ll probably be back in town in a month and maybe I’ll give it another try.
