The staff is friendly and attentive. Pricing seems higher than comparison alternatives. Outdoor seating is available, but may want to consider weather dynamics.
The service was excellent, with our waiter, Michael, being particularly knowledgeable about the menu and attentive throughout our meal. We decided to stay and ordered drinks and appetizers. The buffalo wings were outstanding—charbroiled, hot, and perfectly spiced, while the pork belly-wrapped shrimp were delicious. Drinks were fine, and we were hopeful for the main course.
Unfortunately, the dinner didn’t meet our expectations. I had the airline chicken, which was dry and overcooked, and the kale and sweet potatoes it came with were unevenly cooked. My son’s calamari was perfectly cooked but had too much sauce. My husband’s salmon, however, was spoiled—tasting off and smelling bad. After I tasted it, it was clear it wasn’t edible. The waiter apologized and removed the dish from the check, with the chef offering to prepare a new piece, but my husband declined.
While we appreciated the gesture, the main courses were a letdown compared to the excellent appetizers. Though we weren’t charged for the salmon, we felt they could have done more to make up for the experience, such as offering a complimentary drink or dessert.
We had pepperoni/mushroom/cheese pizza for our appetizer and then ordered the Burger and Airline Chicken as entrees. And for my french fry people, they had a nice crunch and the BBQ sauce was tasty!
From the start, the service felt cold and dismissive. The restaurant was nearly empty, yet the staff — especially the managers — made us feel like we were a burden rather than welcomed guests. There was a general air of disorganization throughout the entire visit.
We ordered the filet mignon well done, but it arrived rare. When we flagged this to the server, they said they would inform the manager. A female manager eventually came to our table, but instead of being understanding or helpful, she was defensive and borderline combative. Meanwhile, we could hear the kitchen staff arguing loudly behind the doors — not something you want during a meal.
My daughter’s boyfriend ordered the fish and chips, which came out greasy and drowned in a heavy mayo-based sauce — something that definitely should’ve been served on the side. My husband and I ordered a pizza, which was burnt around the edges, dry, and yet oddly soupy in the center. We barely touched it.
The next day, every single one of us felt off and had to do a juice cleanse just to reset. We hadn’t even finished our meals, but clearly, what we did eat was enough to cause some stomach discomfort.
What stood out the most, beyond the poor food and bad service, was the attitude of the management. They gave off the impression that they didn’t care about customer feedback and were unwilling to take accountability when we brought up our food concerns. They also didn’t offer any discount to us.
I had heard mixed reviews about this place but decided to give it a try anyway. I truly wish I hadn’t. There are so many great restaurants out there — @Lore Modern Woodfyre just isn’t one of them. If I could do 0 stars I would!
Came tonight for light dinner. We had salad and pizza. Food always good and fresh.
Have tried their others pizzas in the past. Truffle and margarhita are my fave. I love their salmon and beef as well!
Their cocktails are amazing too just didnt have one tonight.
Excellent service. Try the delicious cocktails. Very creative.
